Went to a local pet store today to pickup some fish food and they were gracious enough to let me photograph their fish without any hassle. The goldfish got very excited whenever anybody approached their tank. I think I am going to ask if I can sneak in a tripod next time.
This was my quick fix of cold dish for dinner. Sliced red chillies, lime peel and peeled rose shallots were marinated in sugar, salt and lime juice for at least half an hour. This was ladled over a can of sardine fish sitting pretty in my new plate.
These jelly fishes live in a salt water lake that is isolated from the ocean. Having no predators around, they have evolved into much more sofisticated and friendly creatures that grow their own food (algae) on their tentacles. They do not sting!

There is a difference between what is live fish, fresh fish and fish that the local eat. Live fish is defined as still alive and swimming, fresh fish is dead but kept in ice. Even though Bali is an island, Balinese typically do not fish due to their superstitious belief that the seas are haunted by evil spirits. Live fish produce is brought in by mostly Javanese and the Fish Market is normally on the beach. As there are little refridgeration, fish tend to spoil fast. So what happens is that the leftover fish are normally steamed and sold to locals in the in-land markets. These steamed fish are steamed over and over again to prevent rotting each day. Fish is also more expensive and therefore reserve for special occasions only. (Ubud Market, Bali)

The Black Scorpion Fish lives among rocks close to the bottom of the sea. Its colour varies between dark red and pink.
The pikes on its fins are poisonous for defence.
It feeds on small fish and invertebrates.
It lives for about 8 years and grow to 35 cm.
