This is a first attempt at HDR working with the program Photomatix, a self portrait, and I think it came out O.K. What do you think. Maybe I over cooked it, but it looks kind of all right, mmmmmmm again maybe a comment or two from the folks here on Flickr.

First time achievement always comes to us as something special. Three months earlier I submitted my first conference paper at Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) which has already been accepted for presentation and publication, and today they informed me that my paper has won the first place in TAC's student paper award! This is surely an inspiration!

First time out in Le Chameau Océane waders with a good friend.

Tape job by the bike shop (Cyclist Connection in Canal Winchester).

First time at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

This dog had never seen the sea before and thought it was wonderful !

I just want to be treated nicely. I hope that is a reasonable bar.

First time to Kyoto, first time to have this view in mind.

First time working with blood like this.. hope you all like it!

This is a milestone, still at home so late 1980's, this is the first time I wore make up and did pictures of it. Sorry about the quality, but everything was very dark then. I thought I looked great though, now I think I just looked like a ugly older woman.

We have a robin's nest in front of our living room window! This is the first time I can remember having a front row seat to such a marvel, and I'm pretty excited to see how this unfolds!

This story began for me on Easter morning. Now, our smallest moon is 11 years old and probably ought to know what's what as far as the holy trinity of the Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny, and Santa Claus are concerned, but I will continue to humor him and his older siblings until such time that I am told outright to knock it off.

Anyway, I was hiding Easter eggs in the front yard and discovered this nest, sans eggs in a shrubbery next to the front door. Since it was empty, I'd thought it was a leftover from last year that had simply escaped detection. The Easter Bunny thought it'd be pretty clever to hide a hard boiled chicken egg in the little nest and watch the kids get a good laugh out of it. When it came time to count up how many eggs each of the little Moons found, though, we discovered one was missing. It took a while before I - er, I mean the Easter Bunny - realized which one was missing. I looked in the nest, and it was completely gone. Not only that, but all the fine straw on the surface had been scratched out of the nest too. Right down to the mud holding all the structural portions of the nest together.

Strangely, we never did find the missing egg. Odder still, the bedding straw was completely relaid by the end of the day! I finally realized my mistake at thinking it was one of last year's nests. I was far more surprised to discover a robin's egg in there two days later! Not to mention an additional egg the next day, and a third the day after that!

The mama robin has become a little more comfortable at the amount of foot traffic in the vicinity of the front door, and doesn't fly off every time somebody peeps out the curtained window to check on her and her eggs, either.

With any luck, we should notice the hatchlings later this week! Fingers crossed...

le récit (french)

Despite it being out and about since November 2012, this is my first time capturing NS' "Honoring Our Veterans" unit. In Wheeler, Indiana it's seen leading westbound 90K, a special unit train to Hobart.

"NO PICTURES AT THE TABLES!"

Today, I received a check in the mail from the Boy Scouts of America for my photography. They are using one of my images from Walt Disney World in the September issue of their nationally published Boys' Life magazine. This is the first time I've ever received a check in the mail for a photo of mine. I could get used to this feeling! Thanks for lookin', and have a great day!

Although, I felt like letting anyone look who wanted to.

One of my fondest memories of living in Paris in the 1990s was going to all of the live concerts. One of the bands I discovered then was Pulp, thanks to my wife (girlfriend at the time, who was already a die-hard fan).

I believe this photo was taken on 20 December 1992 at L'Européen, a small concert hall in the 17th Arrdt. (Place de Clichy). Photo by my wife.

Spending most of the week as Hollie

Spent Tuesday in a local shopping area to do clothes and food shopping. First time I've done that on my own very exciting but nervous at the same time but loved it. 😊😊

and, being there on a bank of the Merced, it sure was "Love at First Sight"...

First time out for a new dress that, on close inspection, is very much like one of my old dresses.

Basically I have this dress in red and I love it. It's lightweight, it's comfortable, not too tarty, not to conservative, it can be pulled out and shoved on without looking like a crumpled dish rag. It's great.

It's my go to dress when it's late, I'm in a rush and I don't know what to wear.

So I got another one in another colour.

So is that genius or a crime against nature?

Took Banjo to the beach the other day for the first time. He wasn't too sure about the ocean but he loved chasing after us on the sand. Shandi was just swimming in the water the whole time.

So hard to get pictures of this little man, he's so fast. As soon as you crouch down he runs to you.

~~Today, I went to a nail salon in Tokyo after a long hesitation, and I don't regret it. It's the best pedicure and massage I've ever had. I was nicely welcomed, the nail tech was very nice and gave me many advice. I want to go back to the same salon to have one more wonderful and relaxing pedicure with the same tech !

Not to mention that her nails were perfect, gel nail art on fingers, and a very beautiful green on her toes.

It's the first time I was able to talk about polish with open minded girls, who really loved my pedicure and encouraged me to continue with this passion !
