I made a pre-Valentine ‘faux pas’ by suggesting I set fire to an old heart shaped ornament I had given my wife a few years ago.

Didn’t go gown well.

So, I crafted this one from wire before dowsing it in lighter fluid and shooting it outside on a sub-zero night!

a shot I could have taken today since it's been raining, but this one is from earlier in the year ...

... unfortunately I had to stop processing any new photos on Lightroom because of a problem. I've been using LR 3.6 and it's been causing some of my files to get corrupted, at random. thankfully i have a back up of most of my images, but there was a small batch of photos from France that I started processing before backing them up, and I may have lost a few shots, one that I particularly liked. not sure if I can recover it. Has anyone had similar issues with LR? this only happened recently, and also seems to happen only for files that are saved on an external firewire hard drive, and not on the hard disk of the computer. I've run out of space on my computer, so I've been downloading files to an external drive and then backing up to a second drive. ... any feedback will be appreciated!! as of now I am apprehensive of touching any file on LR, as it might corrupt a file at random. not sure what the solution is ...

On a pleasant mild weathered meet with my lovely friends - Hulapooper, Damian and Nic! The driving was very scary with Black iced roads and that was fun too! I only managed to hit a hedgerow once (you had to be their). We visited Sunderland Point, then Heysham then these most favoured boats at Morecambe, Lancashire. The tide was pushing ice to the shore if you look closely.

My sensor had lots of dust on it but I managed to clean the image up, the rest I left because I liked the effect in the right hand top corner.

We all had pretty naff conditions and I was shooting in RAW, and it only took me six hours to download about 130 images. I need a firewire connection to usb is this possible, Nic?

I want to thank my three friends for being the most wonderful people I could have ever met yet again, may our friendship continue for ever.

Last week me and my buddy DJ did another steelwhool session.

Day 136 of 365 - Firewire

A quick macro shot for today. This is a firewire cable which I had laying around and thought I would try to use my extension tubes today. The shot, though processed for sharpness, background and a few other minor changes was not cropped at all.

My goal was to spin fire as much as possible with out setting myself or any National Parks on fire....Luckily all the parks were safe and sound after Blueys and my visit.

Our plane landed after midnight this morning. After a whirlwind trip to Wisconsin for a family wedding weekend, I'm beat!

Zack and I had to pick up some FireWire 800 cable for my digital film card reader because of one certain kitty's tendendcy to nom nom nom on things. We passed these flowers as we walked back to our car. As I photographed them against the sunset, I was able to position a pleasantly green lens flare at the center of the flower. Tinkerbell in Jacksonville? Who knew?!

This is an Apple Power Mac G4 Cube, from 2000, but beneath the beautiful exterior there's a monster of a computer. Instead of the original 450MHz G4 CPU with 256MB of RAM, there's a dual 1.6GHz G4 board, with 1.5GB of RAM, and the primary boot drive is an Intel SSD connected via Firewire. Not as fast as the newer Intel Macs, but more than enough for serious Photoshopping. It's beautiful.

Strobist info: ST-E2 triggering, on manual, a 580EXII from the top, @105mm, a 430EX hidden in the back, right against the computer's case (which lights up the acrylic), and and second 430EX behind an umbrella from the front/left at a very low power setting to add just a little light to the front.

great session in great place with great lighting tool from VARTA !

i used here flashlights like below:

-Industrial Lantern 4D- from Power Line

- Work Light LED 435

- steel whool

Macbook Core 2 Duo 2ghz with 2gb ram

Lacie 500gb External USB Drive

Fantom 250gb Firewire External HDD (not pictured)

Dell e207wfp 20" widescreen LCD

Logitech S530 Wireless Desktop (keyboard/mouse)

Alesis Multimix 8USB Mixer

Kel HM-1 Condensor Mic

Cheap boom stand I got on ebay

iRiver IFP-895

Sennheiser HD 202 Headphones

This is an experiment using a fast shutter speed on the hv20. I got much better frame grabs from video taken at 1/2000 and 60fps but unfortunately my firewire port on the hv20 is broken and I can't upload it. The shutter speed maxed out at 1/500 for still shots in photo-mode, but I still managed to capture a few drops here and there.

good rainy season ...... unfortunately rainy and because of this quickly ;)

I have with me to lighting ofcourse flashlights from VARTA like;

+ 3W LED OUTDOOR SPORTS LANTERN 3D

+ LED OUTDOOR SPORTS COMFORT LANTERN 3D

- 4 WATT LED HIGH OPTICS LIGHT 3C

- INDESTRUCTIBLE 3 WATT LED SWIVEL LIGHT 4AA

- 3 WATT LED HIGH OPTICS LIGHT 3AAA

- RECHARGEABLE LANTERN LED

Another really urgent thing - acumulators from VARTA to my strobe gave it new life :) Truly!!! Suddenly turned out that my strobe can flash sesion after sesion without any waiting for battery download !:) Superbe!!;)

According to twitter report, FireWire guy, route 333 neat Hacketts Cove is washed out.

The road into Peggy's Cove is also closed to the public.

Last week me and my buddy DJ did another steelwhool session.

octo burning some steel wool at the Moorabbin wetlands last night.

I tried to safe my harddisk on my new firewire disk, but it didn't work at first. I tried with Carbon Copy Cloner. At least it worked with SuperDuper!

Right page: I was glad to find a fuchsia even the saison is over. (Not the season for the flowers, but the season for the shops to sell them)

It's not that I haven't been taking photos lately, it's just that they've all been going into this video I made for the NYC band +/- (Plus Minus). I took over 8,000 photos for this, many of them triggered remotely from a laptop or intervalometer for time-lapse effects. That's 8% of the shutter lifespan that Canon says one should expect from my camera.

Given the title, I guess it's appropriate that the firewire drive where I'd stored all these stills decided to crash the day after I finished this.

See the video on YouTube.

Testing a Coolscan 4000 I found in the trash with a Firewire PCIE card hacked to a laptop and modded drivers for Windows 10. The only adjustment is some unsharp masking, though that's likely just because I was hitting the limitations of the lens in the first place.

Oh, Shot on an F6, probably using an 18-55 lens meant for DX, Probably Velvia of some sort

No fire danger with 4-5 feet of snow.

Another go at wool spinning. I think the sky is a little bright this time, but I like the reflections. The last bit of steel wool flung out of the cage in a clump.

13 years and counting...

Another Brussels re-rub I'm afraid, been out of circulation for a bit so decided to bring the e numbers out of the bag for this one :)
