Living in the woods means a little wind, a little rain, a little snow... and branches of all sizes can and do make their way to the ground. That, and bringing home an open trailer full of trunks and limbs and scrap from tree jobs... well... it all adds up to piles that need to either be ground up by a chipper, or more often than not... fed into the flames of the burn pit. We're unincorporated, and it's legal... but these aren't campfires for roasting marshmallows or hot dogs!
Once in a while in the middle of keeping the fire fueled... it's worth taking a few minutes to watch what happens between the wood, the flame, and all that rising super-hot air. What an intricate dance of brilliant light and fluid shape-shifting and texture and rippling background imagery! Completely fascinating... until it's simply too hot to stay standing still, and you gotta move away again.
Who hasn't stared at length into a contained campfire (or a burn pit in this case) and been completely mesmerized by its beautiful fury?!!
This is an abstract of forest fire. I composed this single exposure image in central Florida wilderness playing with the golden hour light.
Saw this snake head in the fire last night; or is it ET in trouble? Thought it was appropriate for some Saturday Silliness.

Bonfire at Sevenoaks Round Table Fireworks Display.
Not a great night for patient considered photography as it was very wet, windy and muddy. This was a grab shot taken from a distance with my 50mm 'Nifty-Fifty' lens. The image is cropped fairly heavily but I am pleased the quality has held up. My technique was atrocious as I held the camera in one hand high above my head in order to cut out the crowds and fended off the rain with an umbrella in the other hand! Composed using live view. Underexposed to create the silhouettes and stop the fire highlights blowing out. Pleased with the end result, particularly the arcing flames which add to the composition.

Our Hotel had to be escaped about10.pm.
At least 500 people was staying here.
We just heard the firealarm, but it was no proper organising...
We picked up words from other it had been electrical problem in the ground floor...
After some hours we could return to our rooms.
Seems to me the Hotel staff should work more on matter of fireescape
