One of the evening at my friends cottage we decided to start his smoke sauna. It was really nice as I haven't been to smoke sauna before.

...let it burn, let it consume, spread it around...

55 matches in the shape of a heart, on a wood floor.

For me, this was a bit of a stretch in imagination. I'm not a big Valentines day celebrator, but this gave be the opportunity to try something different than what I would do otherwise. Even though I've seen variations of the heart/matches setup, I wanted to approach it in my own personal, unique way. And there's 2 things that I really enjoy in photography: bokeh and light. I'll admit, it's not technically perfect, but I like the feel of this nonetheless.....

Lighting setup: natural ambient light and the flame from one match. Natural bokeh patterns from the match sticks (it gives me ideas). :) And, I'm really starting to like this sort of candle/flame light photography. :)

It's amazing I had time to sit down on the wood floor and play with matches. The setup took about 10 minutes.

Thanks to everyone for the time they took to stop by the last photo. :)

Seems apt at the moment with the arctic and the Brazilian rain forests burning, though the original image was a photograph that I took the evening of the day my father died.

I was traveling back from his house in the Barossa Valley to Melbourne, late, so I was near Horsham in the dark when I took this photo of burning-off in fields.

It was dead quiet, I couldn't see anyone at all, no cars, just an incredible sky, the glow of the fire and empty space. It felt profound and beautiful, for that heart-wrenching day of my life.

A great sunset unfolded as I was driving home from my day trip to the ghost town of Sharples, Alberta. I just had to pull over and take a couple of shots of it. This is near the town of Three Hills, Alberta. (I know...weird name when you consider this landscape.)

Fire tower near Woodstock , N.Y. ... Catskills ... texture by Lenabem-Anna

Taken a couple of years ago at a summer fair in southern England, this was one of those unintentional, intentional kind of shots.

Intentional that I was going for a fast speed capture in the dark to get the flames licking up around the tree's, but a man just happened to walk past when I clicked and it turned out to be the best photo of the night. You get lucky like that sometimes, its part of the reason I love photography.

My Return to the fire tower.

This abandoned tower was built in 1963, according to marks in the concrete footings. Long abandoned, pieces of the tower surround the bottom, things like weathered wood, and broken glass. The entire tower shakes when shaking the ladder. The temperament required to summit the tower, would be someone with a dangerous lack of self preservation.

The path to get in has long been surrendered to the forest, an arduous path you must make yourself through the forest to get here.

and despite the remoteness of the location for a short time on top of the hill you can catch a cell phone signal, from a very distant tower
