James Byron Dean was an American actor. He is remembered as a cultural icon of teenage disillusionment and social estrangement, as expressed in the title of his most celebrated film, Rebel Without a Cause, in which he starred as troubled teenager Jim Stark. A storm that rolled through Howard Springs just on sunset. I managed to get a few shots before the rain started then had to sit in the car while it passed over.

There you'll find the place I love most in the world. The place where I grew thin from dreaming. My village, rising from the plain. Shaded with trees and leaves like a piggy bank filled with memories. You'll see why a person would want to live there forever. Dawn, morning, mid-day, night: all the same, except for the changes in the air. The air changes the color of things there. And life whirs by as quiet as a murmur...the pure murmuring of life.

wish you a wonderful new week - i'm still longing for spring .........
Playing around with fill flash in hotel in downtown Charleston for our Anniversary. Please give thoughts on which is best. Note which one the flash did not fire (which was by accident) and the subsequent results.
This week has been filled with sleepless nights. This photo was taken during one of them... I am so tired right now. I honestly don't think this will be a problem tonight.
I probably won't be back on flickr until Sunday at the earliest. So I hope you all have a very happy weekend... I'm so out of time right now. I tried to put a comment on someone's photo. But my computer decided otherwise... I hate when that happens.
"Take care all" :-)
I will be away and mostly out of touch for about 10 days. In the meantime, I leave you with a few pics that I had not posted here.
See you soon :)

Using a flash is not something I have done a lot of over the years, since most of what I do is outside. However, there are times when I'm finding it useful. This photo was one of those instances because it gave better lighting to the guy in the picture. More interesting than him though is the background. This is the quarry the used to get the limestone to build the Indiana State Capitol building. There is now a small pond at the bottom, and it was filled with what seemed like millions of tadpoles!
As you enter the quaint town of Paint Bank Virginia, you pass by this set of old gas pumps located in front of the local Postal Office. The last visible price on one pump was $0.39 per gallon....

The main inspiration for this was a picture I found of an old Texaco gas station from the late 50s to early 60s. I'm pretty happy with the station especially the car, but I feel as if there was something missing... If you see it, just shout it out.
Pictures of the car and different little things like the gas pumps and the soda machine will be posted really, really soon.
