Went to Chicago this morning to check out the epic waves!! Still going through the photos ... details to come!! Hope everyone is having a rockin' Saturday! I was abandoned by the family so nothing left to do but Photograph, Photoshop & Flickr!!
I realized I hadn't uploaded an image of the Mackinac Bridge yet from our road trip; so here is a blue-hour shot. Sadly, I was on the wrong side of the bridge for a nice sunrise shot!! Drats!!
Happy Cliché Saturday!!
Here's a shot of Covent Garden’s Christmas tree in close-up. This historic and unique part of London’s West End is always a delight at this time of year, and 2021 is no exception.
Last night I was out with my chums, celebrating a special birthday for a dear friend. We went around the annual Christmas light show in the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh, a very large site that I love visiting, but usually in the daylight, so nice to visit the light show, which I've meant to do for years.
As we were out in a group I couldn't really stand there with a tripod doing long exposure shots, so these are all handheld, hence some are a bit rough (used the mini tripod as an extra handle to try and steady it as much as I could). It's not a cheap ticket (especially if you are taking a family), but it is wonderful to see this already gorgeous, much-loved daytime attraction all lit up on a December evening, different artists working on different sections. We were lucky, although cold the rain stayed off for our entire walk (and it is a long walk right around, as the site covers some 70 acres)

This struck me as being as crazy as it gets, a snowflake on a palm tree. I liked the incongruity. Happy Crazy Tuesday.

A photo dedicated to Ronnie James Dio & band Rainbow
In the later afternoon hour I visited old tower. It is a place that I visited first time in a childhood, it was a carefree time when my hero was Robin Hood. Anyway it is good to be back here after so many years, in my eyes I had tears of joy, I was happy as a little boy. After 45 minutes of hard walking you get a reward, a fantastic panorama view. I enjoyed while drinking Mountain Dew. I prepared to do a photo of this nice location together with gorgeous old tree that was decorated with various color lights. But wait what happened… Stars are coming closer, they can walk, and I heard they even talk!
Blue star: Howdy sport, this old fort is our home you are welcome anytime, my hobby is to speak in rhyme, my art name is mr. Dime. Btw my real name is Dane, I adore Spain. I was in Barcelona, it is pretty city. Yasha: Nice to meet you all. My name is Yasha, I love Russia.
Red star: Hey buddy, my name is Maddy, I was a champion in ping-pong. What is your favorite song? I love rap song Come With Me from Puff Daddy? Yasha: I love many songs I can’t choose just one but for you I recommend Dio - Born On The Sun.
Green star: Hi pal, my name is Alfred, you can call me Al. I used to sing choral music in church. Do you have cigarette Pall Mall? Yasha: No I don’t, I never smoke.
All stars danced & sung together: liar lier pants on fire. Yasha: I really never tried cigarette, don’t bet you will lose.
White star: Mate my name is Kate, this was fate that we meet for the last day of old year. You can see my relatives on the flag of United States of America. Yasha: You guys are nuts.
All stars sung together: We are nuts and we are crazy about peanuts, do you have any in your pocket? Yasha: Unfortunately I don’t have any, next time I will bring you many.
Yellow star: Mamma mia, I am Adelina, I was born in Italy in Messina. Dear friend I don’t want that our friendship ever end. Yasha: Me neither. Let’s make a photo of you all together so I can have it forever as a nice memory. Stars agreed.
All stars together: We wish you happy New Year and nice weekend. Yasha: I wish you the same from my heart.
After photo session I turn away for a few seconds and I looked one more time to fantastic view on Adriatic Sea. When I look back to the old stone walls I couldn’t see any of my friend stars. Maybe they felt stress so they were hiding because some hikers entered inside the old fortress. Perhaps it was just my dream or imagination, maybe this conversation never happened but on the other hand I have this photo as evidence. It is pity that you couldn’t see in real playful stars dance.
P.s. This is a riddle that I can't explain, I hope I am not insane, I wish to see this stars again.
I wish happy New Year everybody on planet earth & planet Mars. I recommend you 2 songs: Rainbow - Stargazer, Bob Catley - The Tower.
Lighting displays throughout the gardens at the Fioli Mansion in Woodside, California. We visited with our daughter and her family. A festive holiday outing!
Wishing you a very Merry Christmas too!
The number 6 bus to Willesden, a black cab to anywhere, or plain and simple pedal power… this is a festive looking Strand in London's West End at Christmas.

It's that time of the year again: Christmas decorations, lights everywhere. A major shortage on power outlets and batteries and you spend half of your day telling the dog that the decoration are NOT for her amusement...
These festive lights are part of a Christmas piece created by my dear wife.
Shot with the Canon FDn 50mm f/1.4 @ f/11, using a 16mm extension tube. Long exposure and narrow aperture creates some lovely stars
Have a great Christmas and a wonderful 2022!
Looking close... on Friday!
Theme: Festive lighting
Sitting back after all the fun & hustle & bustle. Love this cute ornament that comes out at this time of year. Pop a candle in to show the lights beaming through the window. It remind me of all of you in the Northern Hemisphere with snow all around & warming themselves by the fire. While we are outside in the sunshine & bathing in our summer days & nights. - Making the most of the festive lights!
Our town displays an amazing set of Festive lights throughout our downtown core and also in our local park. In past years I have photographed them in different ways so it was a challenge to do something a bit different with them this year. I have done ICM before but usually the whole background is black. This time we had enough snow so the lights could cast some color below and thus I have a green base to this image.
So… Carnaby Street. I was in my late teens in the 1960s, and while I was never really a dedicated follower of fashion (a flowered shirt and flared trousers were my limit!), Carnaby Street still retains a special place in my heart.
And here we are, some 60 years on, and the fittingly vibrant display of psychedelic butterflies made me smile as the memories flooded back.
I was really expecting to like Victoire so much more than Constance with the holiday releases ( I wasn't able to get Della)...........anyway, Constance is STUNNING, and redresses so beautifully. I'm glad I decided to add her to my order.
Best Wishes to everyone this Christmas and wishing you all a healthy, happy new year. This was a festive roundabout that we came across in Spain. Taken with my phone.

The 12/17/21 Looking Close on Friday theme is Festive Lighting.
These ornaments were all hand made by my wife's mother over 50 years ago, and they're still going strong,
Happy "Looking close... on Friday!" with "festive lighting"

As light as a feather? A classy Christmas illumination brightens the night sky in New Bond Street, in the West End of London.
