Tiny Celandine flowers in the car park yesterday, such a lovely vibrant colour.

This is the house that the lovely staircase belongs to. It needs an awful lot of work done to the outside and probably inside too, but it does have a stunning view.

Snowdrops at Elsham Hall Gardens and Country Park. Elsham, North Lincolnshire, UK. Winter, February 2017.
. . . According to my cell phone altimeter, I am about 350 feet above Lake Michigan on the Arcadia M-22 Scenic Overlook. This is about 100 feet less than Sleeping Bear, but still a nice view!
Just for size comparison, there is a person with a red coat walking on the sand before the ice! Can you find her?
Have a great week Facebook, Flickr, and 500px friends!
Posting and running today. The Oscars are on tonight and I am looking forward to watching them. Our pizza just came out of the oven, it's going to be a good evening! Have a great week ahead!!

I couldn't take a photo of any foliage because there wasn't any. But if anyone could try and name this it would be great.

This was a very special find. The Hooded Antpitta (Grallaricula cucullata) is a rare and vulnerable species that is found in the Andes of Colombia and a very small area in neighboring Venezuela. It's a beautiful diminutive bird measuring about 10.5 cm.
Antpittas are secretive, wary and shy birds that inhabit the dark understory of mountain forests. They never stray far from cover. They feed on insects on or near the ground. Ants are a diet favorite. They are small round-bodied birds with short tails and relatively long legs. There are 32 species of Antpitta that are found in the Andes Mountains of South America.
. . . Caught in the very act! Here I thought deer were herbivores and yet this two year old has the proof on his nose that he has been sniffing around my Eagle bait! I find it strange that deer walk out my dock to check this out . . .
Have a great Friday and weekend Facebook and Ficker friends!
Two statues in the same garden as the following photo. There's some other things too, but not worth taking a photo of.

It's almost that time of year again. The time spring gives us beautiful eye-candy to tide us over until the long days of summer.

It was a cold, foggy, rainy day overlooking Monsal Dale Valley in Derbyshire's Peak District (White Peak). The River Wye is meandering its way through the valley.
The temperature was a cold +2 Celsius with copious amounts of fog & rain thrown in for good measure. Unsurprising really, given that it was Winter.

14th February 2017:
Happy Valentine's Day everyone.
The sun came out and the temperature went up so as soon as I could I took a quick walk around the car park. I didn't want to go further in case it rained, though it stayed bright and dry.
On my way home I saw the Hairy Bittercess on the wall and went in for a macro shot.
Graham chose which photo to use for today.

This has been a tiring week. I elected to flex this week in order to have this past Monday off. Monday was an absolutely wonderful day - jam packed with fun. But I paid for it by working four ten-hour days in a row. I ended up taking just this one shot tonight. I took the shot, came back around and looked at it and called it good enough. I've got a long day tomorrow, my daughter and I are going to week two of the AMC Theater Best Picture Showcase. We saw four of the Oscar nominated movies last Saturday and the remaining five movies are tomorrow - Moonlight, Lion, Hacksaw Ridge, Arrival, and Hidden Figures. And I've only seen two of them already, I'm excited to see the rest!
Today's shot is for February's Alphabet Fun: 2017 Edition; X marks the spot.

I passed by a beautiful Camellia bush with pink and white flowers, but decided that a macro of the stamen was more fun.

You don't get much more of a northwoods feel than here at Mass City with the towering pines and stacks of pulpwood. The spur track (off to the left behind the piles) has already been spotted and the remaining cars are moved into position on the siding. Winter was taking a nice "break" this day with temps stretching into the upper 40s. I know I enjoyed the reprieve and I think the crew did too. February 19, 2017.
Just about managed to catch the feel of the feather being blown in the wind - or I think so.
