I spent a week on the Norwegian Jade cruise ship and was Internet free. Here is a shot of the Friday newsletter. This was our last full day at sea. We left Houston on Saturday, February 20, stopped at Cozumel, Belize City and Roatan in Honduras. Great trip.

Masses of small yellow blooms in February. My garden this morning. Shrub is quite tall now so cannot get the detail of the tiny flowers
Sheltering from the heavy rain under the overall station roof at Preston are two Northern Rail class 142 units with 142056 to the fore, 5th February 2011.
Unit History
The class 142 (Pacer) was built by British Rail Engineering in Derby between 1985 and 1987. The train body is based on that of the Leyland National bus and many fixtures and fittings of the bus can be found on the trains. The class has a capacity of between 102 and 120 passengers per two-car set. Amazingly, for what was a cheap and nasty stopgap, these units are still going strong after more than twenty years service with no real sign of replacement.

There seems to be no let up in the rain and this unfortunately brought further flooding to Purley on Thames during the afternoon of Friday 7th February, closing Chestnut Grove and Wintringham Way. Buses served the temporary terminus at St. Mary's Church once again. Buses use part of the church car park to turn around. Initially, I thought the cones in the car park made it more difficult for buses to turn around, a bit like some kind of driving test, however the cones appear to be positioned as they are to ensure buses do not hit branches of the tree in the centre of the picture, which overhang part of the car park. Here 841 waits time outside the church before working the 10:57am journey back to Reading. On Sundays when the church car park is in use, buses are not able to turn here and must use Purley Post Office instead.

After yesterday's photograph I was feeling on a bit of a high, today the weather is just grey, damp and generally a bit grim.
I took a detour on the way back from a job early this afternoon - there is a scene that often unfolds infront of me on the way East of a morning that I would love to capture if I wasn't on a dual carriageway section of the A590. My detour has found me a new and, possibly, better vantage point for that one, and I decided to come back round via Gummers Howe to see if there was anything worthwhile enroute.
There wasn't really. So you get a picture of sheep grazin' in the gloamin' above Lake Windermere ;-)
