Xocolatl, literally "bitter water" gave us the word chocolate. The original drink was made from ground cocoa powder, chillies, cornmeal and water.

This light, unsweetened cocoa powder came from a wonderful chocolate shop in Basel called Xocolatl, with a tea room where yesterday I had a cup of tea and a large slice of home-made poppy-seed cake. They had an overwhelming choice of chocolate bars and cocoa powders; I limited my choice to packets with an X on them.

I had an afternoon out in Selby, where I met up with my ex from nearly 30 years ago and it was wonderful!

She's not on social media and I promised not to publish her image but it was amazing to see her and have a catch up. We'll be meeting up again too.

The place we went was great too - Barco Lounge in Selby.
