There are fewer frogs than toads in my garden, but today there was a significant amount of spawn from both species.

Our Daily Challenge 23 February -1 March : Colourful.
The main event in this month is the spawning of the frogs and toads, but there is still colour from the camellias and spring bulbs.
You may notice the pond has a temporary fence of chicken wire, for today I acquired a new rescue dog!
Decided on “Forks” for the letter F today.

Imagine if you were unable to touch or kiss your newborn baby. This is an ordeal thousands of families, whose child arrives too soon, too small or too sick, are forced to go through each year. But you can help. By baking and selling cupcakes, you’ll be raising funds to help support families during what can be a very lonely and frightening time, and to provide a brighter future for their babies.
Some facts and figures:
• There is a shortage of 1,150 nurses to care for the 70,000 babies in need of specialist hospital care in England. Less than a third of units have enough nurses to meet minimum standards.
• Neonatal units are working way above recommended occupancy levels meaning there is no safety net for peaks in the number of babies being admitted to units.
• Families of babies admitted to specialist hospital care face a crippling financial strain on top of the normal costs of having a new baby.
• Over half of parents face the prospect of not being able to stay near their baby in hospital due to a shortage of overnight rooms for families.
Cake A Difference is the annual fundraising initiative from Bliss, the special care baby charity. Bliss offers guidance and information at a critical time in families' lives, funds ground-breaking research and campaigns for babies to receive the best possible level of care regardless of when and where they are born. Cake A Difference 2011 takes place from 14-20 February 2011. For more ideas on how you can support Bliss contact katiaw@bliss.org.uk

A throwback to when NECR 610 hit a small ice-clogged crossing in Windham, CT and 3039 got thrown off of the tracks. Photo taken on February 23, 2015.
On these hot hot days it's nice to cool off with some memories. Here's nothing special from last winter that I just kind of like.
I almost never intentionally shoot the purple window trains, but if I'm out waiting for something else and one comes by I'll raise my camera.
That was the case here as I spent hours waiting on Pan Am train AYPO on what was supposed to be a quick simple Friday morning chase. But in typical Pan Am fashion that didn't work out as planned. If you missed the Pan Am shot I was waiting on, this is it: flic.kr/p/2kAuZo3
But here is just an ugly but unique to the MBTA MPI HSP46 leading outbound Lowell Line train 1303.
They are seen here rolling through CPF BY (short for Bleachery Yard) passing the old dwarf signals at about MP 298.5 on Pan Am's Freight Main or MP 24.7 as measured from North Station via the MBTA Lowell Line. The former Boston and Maine Lowell Tower is just to the left immediately ahead out of the frame.

Tonight's sundown, February 8, 2023. SOOC except for cropping. Taken from my Sheepshead Bay. Brooklyn window.
we have actually gotten a few days of sunshine lately, and the squirrels know how to take advantage of it - they love to sit on the deck railings, soaking up the sun while nibbling on peanuts:-)
Took a break from the Super Bowl to go to the park during the heaviest part of the snow fall this afternoon! Pippa and Poppy were loving it! At least a two hour delay for Bellevue School District tomorrow, we will see what the night brings for the morning. February 3rd, 2019
This sequence was taken on a February winter day after snow had fallen. My wife Karalee Greer and I did a passage on our 1993 Catalina 34 sailboat from Ladysmith, Vancouver Island, BC, Canada through Porlier Pass, across Georgia Straight, and into our moorage location at Granville Island in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
