This pea chick is growing up fast - he came to greet me as I entered the Los Angeles Arboretum in Arcadia CA.
'Walk-by shooting' - an easier method for candids when you lack the skills to stand in one place and remain unnoticed (and don't carry a 400mm lens :)

Using Olympus ULWD Neo Splan 20 0.40 8/- f=180 microscope objective (magnification 20:1). Focus stacking with ~100 shots using 2.5 um steps, with the focus stacking rail of my design Fast Stacker.
I had to react very fast after taking this shot, otherwise I would fall. This run had no brakes, and she was running straight to me :)
Another Dale Chihuly sculpture at the Phipps Conservatory in Pittsburgh. This grouping of glass bowl-like shapes was set up in a little pond... this pic includes the sculpture and the reflection in the water.

I got a small window mount tripod for wildlife photography because I am having a hard time catching birds in flight without them blurring. In addition, I figured I could use it for that rural scene along two lane highways with no turnouts. You know that elusive scene I'm talking about that's always there but you can't get to it without walking 10 miles?
I have seen lots of images like this but they are never at night. So, I was bored tonight and went out to find an abandon gas station but it had been torn down. Instead, I decided to screw around on some back roads to try this. It was quite the experiment,I had to drive with only my parking lights on and it took multiple attempts. I also ran over a tree limb in the road but it's ok, because I'm pretty sure it was already dead. I couldn't use my 18-55mm as it was obstructed by the car so I had to use my fisheye and decided just to leave the car in it. I ended up using high iso and it's a bit grainy and noisy even after I used noise reduction post production. Still, I like this but I realized, I should probably clean my rear view mirror.
driving 6500km across europe in 9 days, that´s all you can see when you look out of the cars side window ;-)
