The fallow deer rut is in full swing over here.

These bundles of testosterone were putting on a display and challenging each other all morning long. As a result, they didn't pay much attention to me and I was able to get relatively close to get some shots.

A fallow deer with an impressive crown posing nice under the oak.

This one was happily grazing away, not too bothered with my presence.

A female fallow deer taken at the Tamar Otter Sanctuary near Launcston in Cornwall. There are a flow of these in the woods there which are so tame they'll eat out your hand.

These are actually quite difficult to photograph as they're quite pale, almost shost like.

Clissold Park, Stoke Newington, London.

Took this at the end of April, some of the Fallow deer have lost their antlers but these two still have theirs. Always amazes me how fast their new ones grow over the summer months, apparently as much as half an inch a day.

Fallow Deer at the Phoenix Park Dublin.

This frame was shot last autumn which went under the radar in my cyber-vaults. It's always good to browse your collections now and then as you may just unearth the odd little gem or two...Thanks for looking.

All was pandemonium where the Fallows were... At least 8 were scaring off the youngsters and everywhere we looked, the bucks were snorting, growling, trying to steal the Doe's. The fights were long and stressful. I have one image before this was taken, where the darker buck was showing the whites of his eyes to the lighter Buck and before we even knew it, the lighter buck had wheeled round to charge this Buck... and eventually the lighter Buck won a long fight. This was a long and loud and stressful fight for them and for those watching.

A fallow deer stag on a frosty meadow. Don't know how many days and hours i spent there to get this shot... frustration and success are so close sometimes...Have a great weekend my friends! Bavaria, Germany

Although introduced to the UK by the Normans, the fallow deer has been here so long that it is considered naturalised. Info: The Wildlife Trusts.
