I liked this because it looked like a pastel. I wasn't sure if I should crop out the blue at the bottom because my eye keeps going to it, but I love the color, so it's staying!
So many colorful shots from then! At present, nearly all leaves are down and it's cold and gray out there.
I haven't been out much to do any photography in a while, so here's an image from last fall. October is my favorite color if anybody is wondering.
Beautiful fall colors along I-88 east towards Albany, NY. This is the same location as the previous photo. I was driving along the highway looking for a place to stop and found this spot where a smaller road meets the highway. In front of me was the hillside in the previous photo, while behind me was this gorgeous property, a rural house nestled in all these beautiful trees.

Joni was right, wasn't she?
BTW, Kentucky, she's a waitin' on the other side.
(Standing on an Appalachian mountain peak on the top of a watchtower, I'm literally on the southern border of Kentucky. To the near side, the left side of the knobs is Virginia to the south. Kentucky lies north on the far side of the line of knob tops. I had the mountains to myself this pandemic afternoon. A cold front with high winds would arrive in the evening.)
This past weekend I headed up to the highlands of West Virginia with my good friend and fellow botanist/photographer Andrew Gibson. I had been to the region multiple times before, but this was my first time experiencing it in autumn. It was an unforgettable trip...with perfect weather, great company, and beautiful fall foliage.
This image is from atop the Dolly Sods Plateau looking out east across the mountains and fog-filled valleys just before sunrise. We had scouted out this spot during the prior afternoon, after we were underwhelmed with our location during the previous morning's attempt at sunrise. So we ventured out with our headlamps in the dark and navigated across the boulder-strewn and shrubby landscape to our spot and waited for the sun to come up. We had some chilly temps with steady wind during this morning, and I nearly froze my fingers off trying to hand-hold the ND grad filter for this shot, but I think it was plenty worth it. This sunrise morphed into one of the most stunning sunrises I've ever witnessed, but I really liked this twilight-ish shot prior to the sun rising above the horizon.
There was plenty of color at the outlet of this pond as sunset approached - yet the reflections were mostly black.
It's another day with temperatures not much above 10 degrees [F]. These shots from mid-October bring back some good memories!
This temple actually _owns_ the Golden Pavilion (Kinkaku-ji) and the Silver Pavilion (Ginkaku-ji). Crazy I know... :-)
More photographs of Kyoto.

When I was working on this shot I realized that with all the colors in this scene that if this was a music score it would be like being at a rock concert.
