During my most recent visit to Yosemite Valley, I was determined to challenge myself to make images from a wider point of view, but I still found myself drawn to intimate scenes, like this one. Keith Walklet says I "see in telephoto." He might be right. I love the way a telephoto lens compresses space and makes every element in a composition critical. True confessions: I sometimes make a game of how many compositions I can make from the same vantage point using my telephoto lens. It's fun. You should try it sometime. ;-)
I saw a star slide down the sky,
Blinding the north as it went by,
Too burning and too quick to hold,
Too lovely to be bought or sold,
Good only to make wishes on
And then forever to be gone.

Took a stroll through Marshy Point Nature Center this evening and was disappointed when the DSLR didn't power up because the battery was still at home in the charger! Dang! I pulled the Canon P&S out of the console and still managed to have some fun. It sure looked funny bolted to the big tripod. Hadn't paid attention to the lunar calendar and was pleasantly surprised when the full moon poked out of the clouds above the trees. This image is an HDR blend of 2 jpeg exposures done in Corel Paint Shop Pro, Canon Powershot ELPH 310 HS.
On the morning of the autumnal equinox, I took a short detour on the way to work to visit my sunrise spot on the edge of the Bay and was rewarded with a brilliant show of fall colors. Perfect conditions - gorgeous clouds, high tide and smooth water unrippled by the tide or breeze. It was a good day !
I think that Autumn is a photographers best friend. I take in as much of this colour as I can before the winter Blah's decend. On the coast Blah is the word! These colours come from Brydon Lagoon in Langley

To be honest we were a little early for the American fall colours, but this view taken in the small Washington settlement of Stevenson was about as good as we got. Perhaps next timer I will travel a couple of weeks later in the year.
