Taken on our way out of Ricketts Glen. I literally pulled over, got my camera, and snapped off a couple images. When you have a hangry wife and cranky seven month old, you have to compromise.

Westbound hotshot van train Q00925 ducks under the intermediate signal at QD103 with a classic YN2 Dash 8 standard cab on the point. With the dark sky, and some last second sunshine, the fall color was really popping, which made for a nice last shot of the 2015 fall season. In the next couple of days the winds and rains put an end to the fall color.

A small panorama of a mountain range I captured this morning. It was a cool Fall Sunrise with patchy fog.

A small, hidden waterfall during the pouring rain of Autumn in the Columbia River Gorge. This shot was taken on a terribly rainy day in late October during a hike in the Columbia River Gorge with my fiancé Ryan and friend Miles Morgan. While we were all completely drenched and a bit worried about potential water damage to our gear, it was still an absolute blast and I loved every minute.
I took a late afternoon walk at David Fortier Park to see the beautiful fall colors. I was hoping to find a bird or two in those lovely fall leaves but all I saw was a Great Blue Heron fishing in the river. Fortunately, the wife was kind enough to let me borrow her camera (all I had was my telephoto lens) so I could at least take one pretty shot of the colors. Not having a tripod I was able to rest the camera on the stone wall of the bridge in order to use a slow shutter speed.
Alexander Craig House, Colonial Williamsburg. I love Colonial Williamsburg in the late afternoon light, and it's even better with fall color thrown in. Our overnight stay in the heart of Colonial Williamsburg early last month gave me the chance to be in the restored area in the beautiful light of both late afternoon and early morning, resulting in several photos that I like very much.
Alexander Craig came to Williamsburg (apparently from Aberdeen, Scotland) in 1748 and lived there until his death in 1776. A Colonial Williamsburg publication describes Craig, who made and repaired saddles and harnesses, as one of Williamsburg's most successful craftsmen. His shop was on one side of his home (above), located on Duke of Gloucester Street, just east of the Raleigh Tavern. The Craig House is one of the 88 original buildings remaining in Williamsburg when restoration of Virginia's colonial capital (1699-1780) commenced in the last half of the 1920s. It is within the Williamsburg Historic District, which was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966.
Taken at the Reifel Bird Refuge near Ladner, British Columbia, Canada.
The autumn Yellows, etal are moving through in numbers. I found a mini fall-out at Reifel, a mix of Yellows and Orange-crowned warblers in good numbers mixed with Chickadees.

You know, I truly have no idea how these leaves get between the two layers of chicken wire... but they do. And lovely and flat. The One drop of water is a bonus! :-)
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
I'm in
And just like that
All I breathe
All I feel
You are all for me
No one can lift me, catch me the way that you do
I'm still falling for you.

Six Finger Falls on Falling Water Creek. Appropriately named. Another angle of Six Finger Falls below. The best water action is behind the rocks on the left which you can only get from the angle below. Such a great spot. Can't wait to go again in this fall.
Converted to B&W in Machinery HDR Effects (which I love).
We spent last weekend celebrating my mom's 60th birthday. My brother flew in from SD as we haven't seen him in 4 years, so we spent the time hanging out and talking. Sunday after church we decided to get pumpkins and everyone carved one. We had a lot of fun and made quite a mess at Tracy's barn. Blueberry was the chosen dog of the day and came to play with everyone so I posed her with my pumpkin. I do have pictures to post later with all the pumpkins lit up.
A quick snap during my evening bike commute. Some Japan pics are hopefully coming soon. Finding it hard to find the time to cull them.
