This building has been the location of an ice cream factory at least as early as 1918. At one time it was a Hershey Creamery Co factory.
Hershey's Ice cream was founded in 1894 by Jacob Hershey and four of his brothers. (The company has no connection with the Hershey Company, founded by Milton Hershey).
In the 1920s, the company merged with the Bethlehem-based Meyer Dairy Company.
From My Photo Archives: An interior view of the Paper Calmenson & Co. factory in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on July 20, 1990. This firm (now known as PACAL Industries) was a manufacturer of fabricated steel products and also did welding and flame-cutting.
Just 3 days after these photos were taken, WMS shut down their entire pinball division -- referred to now as "Black Monday." I recently found these prints and scanned them.
Me and my mum are putting up some blythes on ebay to fund some vet bills. Missy my cavalier king charles ate some rat poison a neighbour had carelessly put down (on the public path!). We got her to the vets fast so she should be ok, it was a very scary experience though.
I thought I would take some quick goodbye photos, I hope they find good homes.
Mission Director Polly Dunford joined the U.S. Embassy's Deputy Chief of Mission Michael Newbill on a visit to Eastex Garment Co. Ltd factory - one of garment factories that supplies Swedish company H&M. They saw firsthand how the products are made as well as the work conditions and safety measures for the factory workers. They also met with local trade union representatives and health trainers to discuss wages, working conditions and, workers' health.
I shot this image at a fjord just outside Torshavn and I assume it is some sort of fish processing unit, though I dont recall any nasty niffs. I have since been informed it is a deisel power plant.
Note the low cloud/mist which is typical of the islands in summer especially south west facing coasts as this was.
Her hair is awesome now. A dip in some boiling water... I was skeptical but here's the proof. What a difference!!
My thanks go out to all the experts who share their knowledge! :)
Poor Guava, her hair seems so thin in comparison.
BTW... the headband is my attempt to get those crazy, crazy bangs to stay down.
I recently ordered a factory girl, tempted by the selection of hairstyles/colours... Here's the verdict:
Pros:
- Nice eyelashes
- Long hair, great colour
Cons:
- Hair picks up static electricity very easily, and each individual hair is very thin - the kind that would be completely ruined after 5 minutes in the hands of a child.
- I'm not sure she's been put together by "leftover", genuine Blythe parts. Seems more like a fake because:
1) The mold seam under her feet is in a slightly different place than in my other girls
2) The square-ish bits above and below the ears extend higher up and further down than in my other girls
3) The knees are easier to bend - they feel different from my other girls.
If she's a fake then she's a really good one because she looks and feels like the real thing and she's really pretty.
