Small Forest near Kinloch Leven

This is from a couple of years ago, never gave this image a second look until today. If I can remember there was a light fog this particular morning.

Plain and simply... some of the best light there is.

Image made with my Hasselblad 500 C/M.

A forest kingfisher (Todiramphus macleayii) taken some time ago at the Eagleby Wetlands.

Here he is seen leaving his nest in the termite nest (arboreal termitaria) attached to the tree.

Captured with the Nikon D810 and the Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR AF-S lens.

Will be nice when we can travel more freely and not be concerned with COVID-19.

Many thanks to all my Flickr photostream followers I have now more than 1.7 million views, thank you. Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it is very much appreciated.

back in circulation, again, looking north, towards the city of Stuttgart, which remains hidden in its hole. But if I'm not mistaken, Stuttgart's district Degerloch is just barely visible (it's maybe 80km away). And the Stuttgart transmission tower.

Nearer, lit by the sunset, that's Tübingen, the university hospital.

The lens is the Pentax SMC 135mm, at f/8

This stallion is named Jetset Monarch and was released in the Wilverley area of The New Forest. A group of mares galloped past us being chased by him. I was lucky to get some shots as usually by the time you hear the galloping horses and get your camera ready they are gone.

Free grazing is provided for up to 30 stallions on the forest

These are inspected by five judges, who look at conformation, type and action/movement, as well as bloodlines.

For 2024, 20 stallions will be on the Forest between 7 May and will be in by 18 June. As always, please give them a wide berth, as all ponies’ behaviour during this time will be unpredictable.

These photos taken in the Waipoua Forest were taken early evening so I couldn't get any good shots.

The photo were taken back in March 2012. I am just catching up with them. I had started to put up our trip to Northland but for some reason never got them all up.

Waipoua Forest is a forest, on the west coast of the Northland Region of New Zealand's North Island. It preserves some of the best examples of kauri forest remaining in New Zealand. It is notable for having two of the largest living kauri trees, Tāne Mahuta and Te Matua Ngahere. Wikipedia

The Hollow Forest is a great place for pics. Have fun everyone, but don't forget the Templum! I'll be posting more pics from that pool soon.

Here's your slurl: slurl.com/secondlife/Hollow forest/128/128/2

There are many items created by people we know and others we don't here. It's fab. SPECIAL special thanks to Amellier Spitteler for allowing us to visit this pretty place.

Better if L is pressed.

Hampshire woodland just after sunrise. There is no great drama in this micro landscape but I like the way the light filtered through the willows as well as the organic debris on the forest floor.

In the forests of Callander in The Trossachs area of Scotland lie the remains of old Roman forts from the first century CE. Near Bracklinn I came across the moss covered stones of the old road through the forest leading to an ancient fort.
