Mold/Resin updates on the "sleeping" Nostromo Ripley/ Lambert and Narcissus Ripley figures - 1:18 scale. ALIEN 79.

Raw pulls from the molds caught with my smartphone. No cleanups, nothing trimmed away - as is, straight from (or still in) the mold....and they are coming out great! Don't worry - Ripley will have arms...Promise! LOL!

Greeblie work on corridor pieces for the Nostromo build - ALIEN - 1:18 scale

A few days later and I have all the casts of the carapace needed to tool the head articulation and begin the next phrase which with be sculpting the neck leading down to the chest. The casts you see here are direct pulls without any cleaning - I hope to present better images here soon. After the next phase gets to its way I’m going to get back into some shipbuilding. I have a landing leg and sleep chamber that needs major attention and I don’t want to get burned out on a single project. Sorry for the crappy pictures...better ones coming soon! #aliens #alienqueen #plasticcastings #customactionfigures

I'm going to have to do a better glamour shot but needless to say the camera looks a hundred times better.

Sculpting the upper legs at the moment. Because the upper body weight is so great, I will be replacing the microman feet with larger ball jointd feet similar to my Vader figure.

Completed both sets of shoulder armor. These pieces are attached to the arms by clear bands glued to the underside of the armor, that wrap around and under the shoulder ball joints. This allows the arms free range of movement without the shoulder armor falling off.

Some additional images of the paint progress to the Fifield Monster - CGI Version 1:18 scale - Prometheus. Pre- Crystal Clear recasting. Painted several just in case the recasting process didn't work. Fortunately the process worked the first time out but I may go ahead and recast cast a second one to pick the best of the two. ‪#‎prometheus‬ ‪#‎fifield‬ ‪#‎fifieldmonster‬ ‪#‎iloverocks‬ ‪#‎cgivspractical‬ ‪#‎alien‬ ‪#‎mutation‬ ‪#‎painting‬

Sculpt update on "Sleeping" Ripley - Narcissus Shuttle - ALIEN 79, 1:18 scale.

Recreating the final scene in ALIEN where Ripley begins her ill fated hypersleep aboard the Narcissus shuttle.

The figure casting has accrued some sculpting revisions - minor but needed. You may see some mild shading around the face, epoxy that was added especially for the cheekbones that had to be raised.

The figure fits into a bedding that was sculpted with AVES FIXIT and shaped before curing to fit the figure in place.

The canopy shots have been adjusted to soften the vacuumed plastic imperfections since it distorts the white resin copy of the sculpt beneath. So it's kinda like an overlay till the final figure is painted.

So this piece will go into the Narcissus Shuttle diorama I am currently building. I am working on a sleeping Jones the Cat that will be included with Ripley within the pod.

Thanks for your patience with the updates. I'm enjoying my new job and I feel I will be able to commit more time in the evenings to increase my sculpt work on the several projects you all have been following here.

Ash has been helping in a lot of home improvement projects around here...While the sewing machine is being repaired, we have been wall papering and moving around furniture!

Sculpt update on The Queen - Aliens (86) - and the Egg Morpher - Aliens: Defiance - Dark Horse Comics. Both 1:18 scale.

The Queen

Completed the rough sculpt of the lower mandible and teeth. The lower mandible is a skeletal sculpt for the moment while I adjust and refine the teeth. After the lower teeth are complete, flesh detail will be added to the mandible.

The teeth are being sculpted on a separate pallet, so when completed can have a mold made and cast in clear resin. The teeth are individually sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two-part epoxy from Aves Studio LLC. Once cured, I've begun refining each using dental tools and fine-grit sandpaper. Hope to have them at a full shine similar to the top set of teeth soon.

I still have to sculpt the gum line for the lower teeth and the pallet will eventually be set deeper into the lower mandible than what you see here. Many adjustments will be made after castings are made. Then additional casts will be made.

Do the top and bottom teeth line up? Close but not really - not too concerned with that since my sculpt will feature multiple head sculpts and not a jointed jaw. So perfect alignment isn't a priority here...although I will do my best to get it as close as possible before making molds.

The Egg Morpher

Began filling the detail to the back "pipes" of the beast. I've also begun the sculpt of the creature's hands which will be very similar to the Giger Alien hands but larger. The rough sculpt right now resemble Bugs Bunny gloves and not that of the nightmarish xenomorph but no worries, that will all change....just how I work.

Hope you enjoyed the updates!!! Trying to get an update knocked out each week. If not, every other week for sure with updates in between.

Questions are welcome! Thanks again!

Sculpt progress on the 1:18 scaled Space Jockey - ALIEN 1979.

Sculpt material used - Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Clay

So I'm only a couple of hours sculpt time to completing the back on the Space Jockey! I am currently working on the piping that is located behind the head of the creature.

Completed the sculpt to the other side and I'm happy with how it all balanced out. Took a couple of adjustments which meant sanding down a cured area and sculpting over but that's the name of the game when working with epoxy. Glad that's over with! :)

When the back is done, I plan to begin working on the front of the Jockey, where the eventual "cannon" will connect. I will take a break however and work on other projects that need attention (including some alien work).

I hope you all enjoy the updated images and for all you Alien fans out there, I hope you had a GREAT ALIEN DAY!

Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection. 1:18 scale, work in progress. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC.

Finished detailing the jaw, which is a separate piece as you may be able to see in the new images. Sculpting the neck of the beast as well. At this point I am going to make whatever final revisions needed and go forward with making a mold of the head and the jaw. After a couple casts are made, I can make variants featuring the creatures different expressions, mouth open and a sculpt of the tongue.

At this point the neck will not have any articulation. If I can figure out a way to create a ball socket which the head and neck can rotate on possibly?...The only way I could see it working without jeopardizing the sculpt would be if a rubber sheath was cast for the neck and wrapped around a set of articulated joints. It's still early on so not worried about it. The solution will come.

Sculpt progress on the Praetorian (Egg Layer) Xenomorph - 1:18 scale - Alien: Defiance. Work in progress using Aves FIXIT sculpt from Aves Studio LLC.

YES! Back to some sculpting at last! Sorry for the delay guys/gals - life put things on hold for a bit. Hurricane Irma was a beast - and my prayers and well wishes for those whose been affected by the recent storms: Harvey, Irma and now Maria...Mother Nature tends to remind us of whose in charge from time to time. Which there was a gentler way.

Continued sculpting the upper torso on the Praetorian which shares the same body as the 79 Giger alien but at a larger scale. I'll share a scale shot later to let you see the difference. The sculpt you see is quite clean...but not for long. It's an exoskeleton of a creature designed to protect the queen as well as it's hive - the body needs be roughed up a bit. Not much as I have enjoyed the details of the sculpt and don't want to loose it. Just some scratches, breaks and pop marks...nothing too heavy. Working on the piping for the back with the lower abdomen and upper arms next on the table.

Sculpt Update (IMAGES) on my 1:18 scaled Space Jockey - ALIENS 1979. Sculpted using Aves FIXIT Sculpt.

I've posted a video as well so please check that out. youtu.be/LL6moVvkzkI

I "dremeled" out a chasm to insert a separate sculpted piece of tubing that will be sculpted over to become a permanent fixture. I also carved out a portal to insert the "guard" that goes down the back of the chair, parallel to the interior tubing. Some adjustments need to be made and additional sculpting needs to be added but I'm very pleased with how it all fits.

One step closer to finishing the back of the chair!

Hope you enjoy the photos! Thanks again for all the comments and support! More updates coming!

Projeto ainda em andamento. Pode ser acessado aqui: www.fixitdesign.com.br - CMS WordPress - Site de tutoriais sobre design. Em parceria com colegas de faculdade.

From the Dark Horse comic series Knights of the Old Republic, written by John Jackson Miller, comes my completed Zayne Carrick as he appeared in part four of Commencement.

Big, heavy and well worn, Zayne's suit has been sculpted and painted to appears to be a mix of woven material, leather and a lightweight metal alloy which includes a working removable helmet and PlSS (Primary Life-Support Subsystem) backpack.

It wasn’t easy but Pip and I managed to bring my plane back home. It was in a very poor condition, but we were determined to repair it.

So we got together the most important tools one needs to fix something, two hammers, and got to work.

Of course we needed some plane repairing music, so I got out a my Uncle’s “Plane Fix Mix Tape”. The first title (“Fix you” by Coldplay) sounded promising enough, but it was sung in such a high pitched voice that poor Pip immediately held his ears and started to howl in agony.

I quickly threw a hammer towards the radio and it skipped to the next song, the theme from A-Team.

That was more like it and we were done in no time :-)

Sculpt progress on the Newborn - Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. Sculpt using Aves FIXIT Sculpt by Aves Studio LLC

Began sculpting detail to the upper torso as well as building the shape to the lower half. The main articulation point in therein body will be a ball joint just below the ribcage separating the upper/lower torso. Finer details have not been added yet - I work in stages when sculpting with epoxy since it usually only has a 4 hour cure time.

7/16/21 - Sculpt update on the Space Jockey - ALIEN 79 - 1:18 scale.

So after the inevitable cutting and resizing of the torso that almost made my work go viral for all the wrong reasons (I was briefly a cake designer on reddit it seems), it is once again whole and at this stage, complete.

Check out the comparison shot, before and after - the difference in length was a half an inch.

Along with the sculpt work that replaced that which was reduced and adjusted during the resize, I made sculpt changes to the creature's cranium, completed the detail behind the head and neck of the doomed pilot and reworked the sculpt of the hands to appear more bony and less fleshed out. I actually still have a bot of dremeling to do to the hands...and a moment ago I said this was complete (rolls eyes) LOL!

Next step, taking a break so I can get back to work on other projects. That being said, I know how I am and when there's a step needing to be done it will drive me crazy till it's complete so don't expect this project to be tabled anytime soon. BUT...believe I have the luxury of multitasking now LOL! Thinking about building up the remaining front of the chair, where the "canon" will sit. I'll have a better explanation in the update video that will follow up next week.

Thanks for checking in on my latest update! Hope you enjoy the pics! More to come!

My 1:18 scale, 4.5" tall Furlag sculpt is complete. The head is a completly original sculpt. The figures body is also original and is sculpted over a custom created, articluated frame. I used Aves FIXIT for the sculpt and casted the head in plastic. Furlag has 14 points of articulation. Hand painted using Testors Polyscale (Floquil) acrylic paints. A very unique species in the Star Wars universe...

From Wookipedia - "Furlag was a small-time bounty hunter with large, batlike ears. Operating during the height of the Galactic Empire, he was not well-known, but often worked with other prominent bounty hunters, such as Zuckuss and 4-LOM. He, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM were subcontracted by fellow hunter Skorr on Ord Mantell during the early Galactic Civil War in the hunt for a group of prospective Rebels, then again later with 4-LOM and Zuckuss as well as several other bounty hunters including the Trandoshan Bossk to attempt to pry Han Solo's carbonite-encased body from Boba Fett."

Unfortunately Furlag underestimated Boba Fett and met his end being sucked through and open airlock shaft into deep space.

Sculpt update on various projects...

- 1:18 scale Newborn from Alien: Resurrection

- 1:18 scale Egg Layer Xenomorph from Aliens: Defiance

- 1:18 scale "The Beast" from ALIEN (79)

and a couple more images from the 1:18 scale Sleep Chamber (NOSTROMO) project.

For the Newborn and the Egg Layer Xenomorph, it's all about hands. I've created the frames for the hands I will be sculpting this week. For the Egg Layer Xeno, I want to sculpt a "neutral" hand which is nothing more than an enlarged version of the original ALIEN 79 hand so that will be fun.

For the ALIEN 79 "Beast"...I am happy with what I have done with the figure but I see where improvements can be made. The head sculpt has never been 100% for me...and I think with a little tweaking I can get it there. I'm also thickening the lower abdomen sculpt as its proportion to the upper rib cage is a tad overblown. I'll post a separate update to explain all that later.

Finally, I wanted to shoot a couple more images of Parker from the Sleep Chamber build just to get a couple more shots of that hand before I sculpt over it with another one. LOL!..and I shot another image of Ripley because it was just there. LOL! This was the shot Ridley wanted but the production company thought nudity (although logical in this circumstance) would limit the number of people that would see the film so he chose the alternative (the ridiculous bands across the chest) that didn't see the light of day anyway! LOL!

OK! See? I'm still kickin' out updates! LOL! I hope you all are safe and doing as well as you can with the current state of things. Hope my little updates can break up some of the monotony out there.

Thanks for looking! More to come!

Much more detail to the head this week - also worked on the upper arms. I feel the detail is going to be enormous with this figure once completed...and with a full range of articulation? Awesome! I'm looking forward to beginning the chest cavity.

However, many revisions need to take place before I am satisfied but I feel I am heading in the right direction. All Hail FIXIT SCULPT! I couldn't do this type of detail at this scale without it!

I hope these early images show you how much effort goes into creating these figures - probably the most difficult part of building one of these is the early stages, creating a working armature that will allow the articulation I want as well as support the sculpt work I intend to apply.

The first of two semi-static posed figures of the creature from the 1979 film, Alien. Hand sculpted, hand painted. This version depicts the beast as it would have appeared in several promotional test shots during pre-production, the air duct scene where Captain Dallas met his end as well as a deleted scene appearing within the corridor while Parker and Lambert were making their desperate escape.

Figure is approx. 3" high from highest point on head to the feet. Articulated neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists. Vacuum formed PETG dome is removable.

Original was sculpted using Aves FIXIT sculpt, a two part epoxy. Parts were cast in resin and assembled to build this version. Used Model Masters Polly Scale and Tamiya acrylics.

You can see just how thin the layers of FIXIT have to be to make the alternate body armor. As thin as it is, still very strong. May attempt to cast in plastic.
