The fifth major waterfall I captured on our hike along the Schwarzwasserbach. At least, it was impressive when we were there - after some days with a lot of rain - but there was a notice saying that during dry periods the waterfall is just a trickle!

Shortly after this fall we reached the road, where we went down to 'Fuchsfarm' above Hirschegg to catch the bus back 'home' to Riezlern.

also known as The Crown Jewel at 212 Fifth Avenue. A Sotheby's exclusive. I was invited to an open house tour cocktail party last night to preview the space. The home is spectacular, but the views are even more so. This is the view of Madison Square Park from the 23rd floor terrace.

Fifth Element is one of the movies I’ll watch over and over again.

I’ve been working on this taxi from the movie for quite a long time and finished it today. Difficulty in getting the right parts (and learning a few things about some popular Bricklink sellers), a mishap that caused me to order a new set of stickers, plus this is a fragile model and has come apart more than once. But it’s done and as soon as I find the minifigs I bought to go with it…

"There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space, and timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition." - Rod Sterling

CPKC's business train featuring classic Canadian Pacific equipment (and one repainted KCS car) eases through the crossovers with the Union Pacific, passing the former CNW depot at Clinton, IA.

The deadheading train spent 12 hours getting between Bellevue, IA at sunrise and Nahant Yard in Davenport, IA at sunset, a trip that normally takes 3 hours.

Even when I am running errands and pressed for time when I go down to Manhatten I try to grab a shot here and there when possible.

The fifth planet was very strange. It was the smallest of all. There was just enough room on it for a street lamp and a lamplighter. The little prince was not able to reach any explanation of the use of a street lamp and a lamplighter, somewhere in the heavens, on a planet which had no people, and not one house. But he said to himself, nevertheless:

"It may well be that this man is absurd. But he is not so absurd as the king, the conceited man, the businessman, and the tippler. For at least his work has some meaning. When he lights his street lamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower. When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep. That is a beautiful occupation. And since it is beautiful, it is truly useful."

What the little prince did not dare confess was that he was sorry most of all to leave this planet, because it was blest every day with 1440 sunsets!

This is the 5th year that my beautiful orchid has bloomed. How exciting. I did have two other orchids that sat on either side of this one but neither of them survived. Isn't that odd? They all got the same light. They all got watered on the same day. They all got fed orchid food. Why one flourished and the other two perished will remain a mystery.

I expect these blooms to last into late September, beginning of October.

This year the Famous Flickr Five+ Group have decided to change their monthly challenge from "Five On The Fifth" to “Freestyle on the Fifth”.

This months theme "Glass" was chosen by Red Stilletto

I took this photo while visiting Napier in New Zealand, in one of the many Art Deco offices.

This year the FFF+ have decided to change their monthly challenge from "Five On The Fifth" (FOTF) to “Freestyle on the Fifth”, so still a theme every month, and to be posted on the 5th of the month, but this year it does not have to be five images, it is up to the member to choose a single photo or a collage/composite of how ever many photos they like. The theme will still be set by a member of the group each month.

This month it was Lisa’s www.flickr.com/photos/thevixen turn to choose the theme, and she chose “Glass"

I have chosen to photograph the base of a wine glass lit by a Tunnel Light.

I'm not into making photos of homeless people but the fact that this was on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan (near Trump Tower) and the umbrella displays the logo of a hotel that might cost you a thousand dollars a night really made the economic dichotomy in this country hit home for me. We need to be better than this.
