An unusually large family of geese. There seem to be four adults so maybe they have combined two nests worth of babies but it still seems like a lot of babies.
When I was a young child I remember wanting to touch my mother's collection of antique glass bowls and other glorious treasures placed in her elegant cabinet. She would explain which family members had previous owned the items, creating a link to past generations. Now I am the matriarch of our extended family. I find myself placing these same items in my grandson's hands and sharing what I know about the people who came before us. I almost feel my mother's presence at those times.

...but, what's on the other side?
Experimenting with post processing. Fun!
It was interesting to learn during my visit that much of the land is public. You can use your off-road vehicles most places without fear of trespassing. You're responsible for yourself. In the mountains, there are no guard rails...not many people speed!
My 2G nano, 2G touch, 2G shuffle, and 4G nano, all lined up for a photo shoot.
I've since sold the shuffle and added a black iPod classic and 8GB iPhone 3G to the family, and given the touch to my father. The iPod touch is a great iPod, but I needed a mobile phone, and I wanted an all in one unit. I love my new iPhone.
Mom and pup enjoying the warming sun together.
Harbor seals need to haul out of the water regularly to rest and let their bodies warm up. They can't maintain body temperature if they stay in cold water all the time because of their small size and thin blubber layer.
The pup won't be weaned until around 4-6 weeks old.
The family, visiting friends in Pompton Lakes, NJ. Gotta love the log cabin walls. That's me in my mom's lap.
