The sandhill crane that hangs out in the lake is back and this time with his newly hatched chicks in tow. fiercely protective, it started honking at me the moment I stepped out to take some pictures. The chicks are a joy to watch, as they imitate their parents and usually stay with them for about a year.

During a short stop to walk my dog, I spotted this Osprey family on a nest platform across from Hickory Hammock Management Area Trailhead. There was a second adult Osprey on a pole nearby. Even though I was across the highway, the adult in this picture soon flew across the road to a nearby tree as if to more closely monitor my presence.

Sandhill Crane family in their natural environment at Sweetwater Wetlands Park in Gainesville, FL, as opposed to my other crane image from Maryland!

I take a family portrait every year for Christmas and this image was captured in November 2021 at our place in Northeast, KS. I shot this using my Minolta Autocord on FPPs BWXX film, developed with Xtol at 1:1. I used a Kopil mechanical trigger release to trigger the shutter for this shot. I was very pleased with how this turned out.

I was in the city of Agra, photographing street life. This gentleman came and asked to be photographed with his family. He was clearly proud of his family and wanted to show it off.

Mr Osprey brings a fish home for Mrs Osprey and the babies, now almost grown ups. "Dad" eats the head and gives the soft part (the "gourmet" part) to the rest of the family.
