Have been away half the time in the last 6 months. Just about caught up now. Have been trying different movements with panning of the waves. There is always a new angle.

When the sky is torn apart after the rain und the sun is working its way through the clouds, the view of the lake ist particularly expressive.

These three pans were made at an exposure of 1/40. They show the impact that the background can make, depending on misty or clear conditions and the colour of the light.

In a striking close-up of Sarracenia minor, also known as the Hooded Pitcher Plant, immerses the viewer in a vibrant tapestry of color, detail, and natural design. Here it sits in its natural habitat and boasts a rich, enchanting palette of deep magentas and crimson reds, creating an immediate focal point amidst the lush, chaotic green of surrounding grasses.

Light and shadow intermingle on the petals and hoods, accentuating the elegant, arching forms and highlighting the intricate windowed patterns of the pitchers—biological “craftsmanship” that feels both mysterious and meticulously purposeful, an exhibit of nature’s artistry. The unusual combination of vivid magenta and crimson hues against the tangled green grasses makes the scene feel almost otherworldly, encouraging closer inspection. The intricate white fenestrations (window-like markings) on the hoods of the pitchers hint at biological functions, and the imperfections of the petals remind us of life’s impermanence and the wild context in which this plant thrives.

The contrast between the plant’s delicate, artistic appearance—with its elegantly arched hoods and almost theatrical petal structures—and its status as a carnivorous species challenges expectations and piques intellectual curiosity about adaptation and survival. Subtle imperfections, such as the slightly torn petals, imbue the subject with a sense of authentic wilderness and life’s ongoing processes, deepening the sense of discovery. Together, these qualities invite contemplation about nature’s inventiveness and the complex relationships between beauty and function in wild places.

I set the alarm clock this morning as I guessed it would be a beautiful morning. I also knew it would be low tide, that would make for many opportunities on the wet sand. In fact it was a wonderful morning, so good for the soul. I would love to be able to share more of what I witnessed this morning but here are a few. I hope they soothe your soul as they did mine.

I find that slow panning enhances the tranquility of sea images.

After all the years I have photographed flowers, and especially Tulips.

Started to read them.

Saw their emotions.

With my imagination easy peasy.

I even seem to humanize some!

They can be sad, happy, surprised... you name it, just like people.

Please, forgive the artist in me and just enjoy with a smile? LOLOLOL.

Have a wonderful day, filled with love and thank you for your visit, M, (*_*)

I am uploading 2 images of sunset reflections on the wet sand and sea, one in focus and the other slow panned. Each has a very different feel.

Get ready for some scrolling. These are the last gorilla shots I'll post from my trip to the zoo with sugarbearsteve. Here is his shots of the gentle beast, including some of his feet.

In Riga, at 18 Lāčplēša Street, there is a tenement house built in 1906 by architect Jānis Alksnis. One of the first buildings in Riga with Art Nouveau features in the facade architecture. The facade is decorated with exquisite ornamental bricks. On the top of facade there are expressive figural compositions with a female and male group common in the decorative decoration of Art Nouveau buildings.

At sunrise for about 10 minutes the colour of the flashes on the breaking waves is golden. However, try as I may, I have only captured the golden light on the whole wave twice in over 2 years, but it keeps me trying.

These are a 'specialty' Tulip, with pointed petals, when they open completely, they look like stars... superstars, with the odd green bit grown in.

To me: quirky=interesting=special.
