Direct Rail Services livered BR Class 90, 90034 stands at the Country end of London Euston's platform 7 awaiting departure time with Virgin Trains' 1G40 19:03 London Euston to Birmingham New Street service.

Some information about the Class 90:

The British Rail Class 90 electric locomotives were built by BREL at Crewe in 1987-1990, weighing 84.5 tonnes and with a top speed of 110 mph (180 km/h). They operate from 25 kV AC overhead lines and produce 5,000 bhp (3,700 kW). The class is employed on express passenger and heavy freight trains. Their main passenger roles include the Caledonian Sleeper, the ex-Virgin trains Mark 3 set and the Abellio Greater Anglia services from London to Norwich. Freight operations are with DB Schenker and Freightliner on a mixture of roles mainly on the West Coast Main Line and the Great Eastern Main Line.

Fifty Class 90/0 locomotives were built in the late 1980s, numbered 90001-050. They were developed from the Class 87, with many improvements and new features. The Class 90s were primarily built to replace the ageing Classes 81, 82, 83, 84 and 85 dating from the early 1960s, which were prone to fire damage.

The class is fitted with rheostatic brakes in addition to standard Westinghouse air brake equipment. A Time-Division Multiplexer (TDM) is fitted to enable two or more locomotives to work in multiple. It also allows a Class 90 to work a push-pull passenger train with a Driving Van Trailer (DVT), DBSO or Propelling Control Vehicle.

A Class 90 with a rake of eight British Rail Mark 3 coaches and a Driving Van Trailer (DVT) will reach 60 mph (97 km/h) in just over 1 mile (1.6 km), and 100 mph (161 km/h) in another 1 1⁄2 miles (2.4 km).

The predecessor to the American Orient Express, the AEE was founded by Florida businessman William Spann in the late 1980s and operated from Chicago to New York. A derailment in late 1991 took out half of the 11-car fleet. The AEE is seen here headed south on the former Pennsy Panhandle at Cal Park Junction. Led by a GP40 and MARC F-unit, the train is crossing the IHB and CSX mains. 6/28/91--Tom Golden photo.

Going up in the express elevator in the Q1 building Surfers Paradise, Queensland, August 5, 2014 Australia.

Today we meet up with another person from Flickr who lives in New Zealand and we just happened to be at Surfers that same week. We had a fantastic day together. First of all we went up to the top of this building.

Q1 (abbreviation of Queensland Number One) is a skyscraper in Surfers Paradise, on the Gold Coast, Queensland. It lost its title as the world's tallest residential tower to the 348 metre building The Marina Torch in Dubai on 29 April 2011. As of May 2012, it is the fifth tallest such building. Q1 is the tallest building in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere when measured to the top of its spire (fourth tallest building behind the Eureka Tower, the Rialto Towers and the Infinity Tower, when measured to roof and highest habitable floor) and the second-tallest free-standing structure in the Southern Hemisphere, behind the Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand. It opened in November 2005.

SkyPoint, formerly known as QDeck, is an observation deck at levels 77 and 78. It is Australia's only beachside observation deck and has room enough for 400 people. It towers 230 metres above the Surfers Paradise beach, giving viewers a 360 degree view of Brisbane to the north, the Gold Coast Hinterland to the west, Byron Bay, New South Wales to the south and the Pacific Ocean to the east. The express elevator to the observation deck travels the 77 floors in 43 seconds.

The landmark building was recognised as one of Queensland's icons during the state's 150th birthday celebrations. Q1 has been identified as a potential terrorism target for the region. For a short time, an apartment in the building, which was bought for A$9 million by a Japanese restaurateur, was the most expensive ever paid for in Queensland.

The Greenbrier Express train departs from the restored, historically important town of Cass and closely follows the clear, free-flowing Greenbrier River to the small mountain village of Durbin.

The ride upriver to Durbin passes through a secluded wilderness portion of the 950,000-acre Monongahela National Forest featuring beautiful scenes of forested mountains at each turn of the river. Sightings of Deer, River Otters, and Black Bear along with a wide variety of Eagles, Hawks, Ospreys, and other species of aquatic birds are common.

In 1987, Pan Am acquired Ransome Airlines, which was renamed Pan Am Express and became Pan Am's regional carrier. It was mainly the JFK hub, as well as putting up a second feeder network in Europe, offering regional flights out of Berlin-Tegel Airport (TXL). When Pan Am declared bankruptcy in early 1991 and was forced to sell its New York hub to Delta Air Lines, Pan Am Express was relocated to Miami International Airport. From there, a number of destinations in Florida and the Bahamas were served, until the brand was shut down together with its parent on December 4, 1991.

T364, T356, and T385 gingerly tow the rusty hulk of R700 past the open grassland of Hoppers Crossing on their way to Ballarat via Geelong.

R700 was headed to West Coast Railway's workshop at Ballarat East for restoration to service. While some progress was made, the collapse of West Coast Railway in 2004 put the brakes on this project. Today R700 remains unrestored but not unloved, as the team at Steamrail have undertaken light cosmetic restoration in recent years.
