What a special little Western Screech-Owl. It gives me such a great feeling of happiness to see one... but I always worry about the disturbance factor.

Another sub apoc build. This time I tried to do the lighting like spook.
Also, I don't think this is supposed to be fig scale. And there is an air tank at the back of the suit, if you can see it.
I remember when an "all nighter" was getting smashed in various pubs & getting home in the early hours......
Now an "all nighter" is driving to the Dorset Coast & shooting sunset, Milky Way & sunrise!!
The next day is about the same just without the headache.....

The steam from Mammoth Hot Springs condenses and freezes on nearby branches (and other things).
I rarely use flash, but did so here. Fortunately, it didn't light up the background at all.

Manannán mac Lir is the Celtic god of the sea and his name is where the "Man" in Isle of Man comes from.

Manannán may be an old god and mostly forgotten but interestingly still seen as a challenge to some. In 2015 extreme Christians felled the sculpture and dragged it away (it is heavy so they didnt get actually get it very far). They were offended by what they saw as Celtic idolatry- they "replaced" it with a wooden cross carved with the inscription “You shall have no other gods before me.”
Now repaired and re-erected under supervision of the sculptor.
This level of offence and reaction could probably only happen in Northern Ireland!

After the Methodists sold the 1905 Central Hall, major restoration work was undertaken on the building in 1997/8, which reopened in November 1998 as licensed premises called Grand Central.
The windows (among other things) were decorated in a "sympathetic" art-nouveau style supposed to be "in-keeping" with the rest of the building's architecture.
A bit like Marmite - you either love it or hate it.
So I went back to the beach today. I found this chair in some person's yard labeled "Free!" so I took it :)
I had such a wonderful time today. I met a kite surfer who talked to me about my photography and I talked to him about his kite surfing. It wasn't nearly shorts and t-shirt weather but I knew I wanted to wear this.
