I never tire of this landscape. Taken on the way down from the mountain, showing a fairly rural area with a few quiet houses. Not too far from a city, however!

Taken while in a moving car, so excuse any slight blurs ☺

A view of Matupetty Lake @ Munnar - Kerala, India.

IN FLICKR EXPLORE ON 8-10-2012, # 358

Nestled inside the hills of Munnar IN Kerala State, India, and very near to the Anamudi peak lies Mattupetty, the hill station at a height of 1,700 m. Mattupetty is located 13 km away from Munnar. Here you can enjoy the greenish valleys and feel the fabulous climate around. The main attraction of Mattupetty is the dam and the lake here.

The dam of Mattupetty is a storage concrete gravity dam. The dam was constructed under the Pallivasal Hydro-electric project in the late 1940s, for the purpose of water conservation and power generation. Now the dam is a vital source of electricity generation in Munnar and also a haven for many wild animals and birds due to its constant water availability.

The most attractive part of Mattupetty dam is its still water which reflects the tea garden around. You can engage yourself with water sport activities like speed boating organized by district Tourism Promotion Council of Idukki (Munnar) and enjoy the pretty natural surroundings of this beautiful dam. Adventure lovers also have options here like trekking in the Shola forest.

In the midst of the hills, surrounded by the tea gardens, Shola forest and hilly woods lays a beautiful lake, just a few miles away from the Mattupetty dam. The serene ambience of the lake will take you to a world of peace. You have endless options – either you can go for boating in the lake or you can sit on the shore enjoying the tranquility here. Tourists can go for a speed boat, pedal boat, motor boat or row boat.

Mattupetty is also known as ‘cattle village’, the name which came from the famous Indo Swiss farm project or Livestock project. The project was launched in the year 1963 as part of the bilateral agreement between India and the Swiss government. You can see hundreds of varieties of high yielding cattle in this farm. The sight of the cattle grazing freely on the hills of the wide farm is a unique experience which any tourist can have ever in his life.

The farm is around three kilometer away from the Mattupetty Dam and is dedicated to cattle development and research centre set up by the Government of Switzerland. At present the project is handled by the Kerala Livestock Development and Milk Marketing Board.

The best time to visit Mattupetty is from the month of August to May and it is very easily accessible from Munnar town.

i had planned to get a photo of Comet Neowise in the night sky from the edge of my garden as has become somewhat customary in the recent weeks, unfortunately nature has conspired against me by providing blankets of cloud at the wrong time. though tonight the sky was clear, unfortunately, the comet has lost its brightness and is now barely descernable, I've added an arrow to point it out.

I am not sure what the light trail is from in the upper region, i never noticed anything pass, though it is very bright, i expect it is a reflection of a passing satellite though please note that the ISS passed around 1/2 hr earlier and further to the south.

Field of orange tulips near Biddinghuizen in the area of Flevoland (The Netherlands). it's like a celebration of Spring. Amazing colors of nature. I took this picture deliberately in this way to get this depth of field.

*Probably one of my best shots in 2016. The colors, DOF and contrast between the sky and flowers are outstanding in my opinion. This picture is also the celebration of the Spring season with these beautiful orange colors of nature.

I took this shot from my TV screen :-) ... I figured, to complete that set, I needed a shot of the President. So when from him to that scene switching to the US flag, I had to just click it. I didn't like the color version which became bit saturated, so here is tone down version :)

If our love was a fairytale

I would charge in and rescue you

On a yacht baby we would sail

To an island where we’d say I do

And if we had babies they would look like you

It’d be so beautiful if that came true

You don’t even know how very special you are

You leave me breathless

You’re everything good in my life

You leave me breathless

I still can’t believe that you’re mine

You just walked out of one of my dreams

So beautiful you’re leaving me

Every portrait that is painted with feeling is a portrait of the artist, not of the sitter.

Last year we celebrated birthday of my mom with a dinner in the historical Sargans Castle, located at the foothills of the Swiss Alps. We had the 500 year old castle all to ourselves for the evening. We explored the 500 year old castle before dinner - this is the entrance hall.

I processed a balanced, a paintery, and a photographic HDR photo from two RAW exposures, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

Cannop Ponds, Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire, UK.

The Highlands of Iceland cover most of the interior of Iceland. They are situated above 400–500 metres and are mostly an uninhabitable volcanic desert, because the water precipitating as rain or snow infiltrates so quickly into the ground that it is unavailable for plant growth. This results largely in a surface of grey, black or brown earth, lava and volcanic ashes
