The work that I have created questions the relationship that humans have with technology. Does human dependency derived from technology make us less and less human as the current technological trends become more advanced? How can we hold onto our human nature while we are being forced to stay current in our modern world? What are we turning into? Is this infatuation with technology just another logical step in our evolution and the advancement of our kind–or is it bringing us harm? By gaining technology, are we losing ourselves?

I choose to explore these questions within my paintings. The relationship between humans and technology is represented through the form of the female figure. This figure is represented as part human and part machine. The two parts form a visual struggle, fighting for dominance over the figure. The balance between the two parts is essential. However, it is important for the figure to retain a certain amount of her humanity in order to show the viewer what is being lost.

Holding on to what makes us human is important. It is what makes us unique and gives us compassion for others. Through my work, I hope that people can see that the human side of us is more important than the technology that we oftentimes become obsessed with.

This time around I used a dart gun to make the balloons. This was my first time trying out a new color.

made this for my sister's 40th birthday...and took lots of photos so SHE can add them to it.

The tempered glass door suddenly exploded in the office. Amazingly it kept cracking for hours after that. This is a detail of the glass.

Should have had the polarizing filter but.........

The coaches are great - here is one of them getting the swimmers all excited before the event by inflating his swimcap. It got about twice this size before exploding and Kaya thought it was great!

milkweed pods doing what milkweed pods do.

I heard a loud noise from another room. I went in to see what was going on and found that a 9v battery had popped itself and that one of the cell caps was lying on the floor, several feet away from the battery!

these are the parts that I found after it exploded. I did not take this cap off - it took its OWN cap off with the explosion!

in all my life, I have never had a 9v battery do this to me before. its worth mentioning that the battery was not in use at the time NOR was it installed in any gear. it was simply sitting on a desk 'pointing' upwards (terminals up). nothing was shorting it out and nothing was connected to it.

its not only li-ions that are blowing up but its common everyday batteries, now! ;(

I may not be buying no-name brands again....

Having some fun with waterballoons and an airgun

Bought around 4-00pm today. I was getting the bags out of the car when....Bang. I was lucky that it was still in the carrier bag and went pop there. My car interior now smells like a brewery. KEEP THEM COOL.

When Henry Ford undertook to build an integrated industrial empire of lumber, rubber, paint, coal and steel to supply his automobile factories, he turned to eastern Kentucky and bought more than 50,000 acres in Letcher, Pike, Harlan, and Leslie Counties. Out of affection for his son Edsel he called the Kentucky holding company Fordson. Its Banner Fork Mining Company, which was acquired in 1920 and worked out and abandoned in 131, was deemed a model of planning, construction advanced mining technology, and corporate paternalism.

Some more smashing stuff from last night. I'm in the middle of renovating a building next to a pub which - A, enables me to make a mess without upsetting anyone and B, gives me a near endless supply of bottles to smash.

Shooting stuff with an air rifle is pretty hard to get timing right. (just as well for the endless supply of bottles)

This is a bottle of Kopparberg getting shot although I think it looks like its exploding.
