The usual walk to the mail box had no surprises . Todays mail lay cold in a tin hollow chamber shared with spiders in webs . A normal amount of advertisements for occupant , political post cards , bills due , and a free news paper . The entire contents were wet from area rains . Rain was falling now . On the return walk back to house the air began feeling warmer . Surrounded by trees whose naked boughs seemed a fitting hug . Autumn's cold wind whistled briskly past . Up above in misty gray skies geese were flying in v formation . The geese's quacking carried more important news than that held in hand . On a tall moss covered oak tree sat a red squirrel chattering a scolding at me for ever taking anything so seriously .
This is a photograph from the finish of the 36th Michael Manning Memorial "Dunshaughlin 10KM" Road Race and Fun Run which took place in Dunshaughlin, Co. Meath, Ireland on Saturday 20th June 2015 at 19:30. This race is widely acknowledged within the Irish running community as one of the best races in Ireland. While being very well attended and competitive it is also one of the oldest 10KM races in Ireland. The numbers for this race have exceeded expectations year on year for the past number of years. In 2008 a record field of 306 took to the start line but by 2012 this number had more than doubled with 647 runners taking part. The starting numbers in 2013 topped this again at 668. Last year, 2014, the numbers rocketed to a new record of 883. This year 862 finished the race showing that the race continues to attract very substantial crowds. This year, as in previous years, the race attracted runners from not just all of Leinster but from the four corners of Ireland. Who knows but this race could reach 1,000 entrants next year? The work of the organising committee must be commended on making this event possible. The Dunshaughlin 10KM has earned it's place at the top of the pedestal of Irish running through the sheer hard work of Dunshaughlin AC over the years. Road race events do not survive on their own. There must be dedication, hard work and a development vision amongst the committee and the host club. Well done to all.

The explaination is very simple.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

I must have had my camera lodged where the sun doesn’t shine the day I took this picture. It turns out, according to the KaBloom website, that this is actually a FULL SERVICE FLORIST. This is a new Retail & Loft Condo development. I was mislead by all the balloon attention-grabbing promotional material outside the store. :-(

Expectations.
I was taking shots to check the exposure settings, and liked this one so much that I decided to make it my daily photo. This was the first recital where D1 really did well, a flawless (to the untrained ear at least) flute piano duet in a church with amazing acoustics. It was a big morale boost for her to master something after practice and effort.
This safari trip to Kruger National Park exceeded expectations, providing unforgettable wildlife encounters and scenic beauty. The combination of Sanbonani Resort as a comfortable base and the park's diverse ecosystems ensured a memorable experience.

Wet pavement outside the Victoria rooms. Seemed to sum up my mood today somehow. The light and reflections in teh texture of teh pavement apealed to me, as did teh rythm of teh slabs and teh curve of teh Victoria Room's Fountain.
Here Mehdi is conversing with a man from his tribe in Morocco, but it seems that there is a distance between them that is probably not intended. Maybe it is because someone's expectations were dashed. Adding more drama to the interplay is Mehdi's girlfriend Leala with her hands on her head as if to say Ok guys what now? Our roots are best taken plain and simply...roots without expectations. Washington DC, 29 October 2017.

The New Mrs. Tesman is a 2016 new production by the University of Florida School of Theater and Dance. It was adapted from Ibsen's Hedda Gabler by Mikell Pinkney, which translates the events of the original play into a late 1950’s context. The New Mrs. Tesman is filled with old and new secrets and mysteries. The simplified realistic setting is composed of literally four walls, a true symbol of dramatic and theatrical realism.

I thought the light was going to be fine, but I was wrong, the clouds had something to say about my plan also.
Ho well, I am good at imagining stuff so I guess it still works out good.
Joseph and I were supposed to spend last Sunday with Catherine and her boyfriend Mark, but I ended up with a stomach virus or food poisoning or something. I'm not sure what was wrong with me, but it's returned sporadically every other day this week. Blegh.

The opening pages of Dicken's Great Expectations (1860) are set in a dark graveyard somewhere on the Kent side of the Thames Estuary. In the 18th century Cooling was said to be an unhealthy and unpleasant place. Perhaps you need to be here late on a dismal November afternoon to get the full effect. On a sunny and warm September afternoon it all seemed bright and cheery!
