Yesterday ended up fulfilling my expectation of how schedules work in Brasil. Effectively, we planned on doing way too much in too little time.

It started with our cupping in the morning. I was running us a little late, and because of a highly intense toothpaste experience, I held up the cupping by a few minutes so I could drink a cup of coffee, the idea being that I could neutralize the minty-ness with a little coffee.

Then the cupping took a while. We really spent some time talking about the results and making sure we were all on the same page.

Then we had lunch with the Rossi's, who were kind enough to put off their departure from Patrocinio so we could have a tour of the farm. And of course the tour took a long time because we had lots of questions and because there was this amazing banana cake that I just couldn't stop eating.

That delay of course made us very late to Chapadao do Ferro. Thankfully we ran into Ruvaldo and his wife as they were trying to leave. They too delayed their departure to give us a tour.

Both farm tours were greatly beneficial to my understanding of coffee processing in Brasil, especially since we hounded Bruno to give us clearer explanations of what was happening. I think we kind of wore him out.

Anyway, after Ruvaldo's we made our way back towards Campos Altos, the idea being we'd spend today roasting samples for a cupping tomorrow. Bruno's family has an apartment in the town so we made our way there pretty late into the night. Once we arrived we took a walk around the town, laughing our asses off at the pointless spiral walkway that went over the railroad tracks and the uncompleted car overpass. What we didn't know is that the town can be very dangerous at night. Thankfully we were able to avoid any issues.

So we woke up this morning and headed over to Zinho's house, which is a block away, to make coffee and use the internet. Not feeling too confident on the two-barrel sample roaster, I left Christian and Tim to it. Zinho tried to be in the mix all day, which was comical in a special way.

We even had coffee in his signature Zinho mugs.

Later in the day we'd have pizza for lunch, and I swear to god they put mayonnaise on their pizzas. What the hell is wrong with these people.

We'll be going to Esperança later and then up to Boa Sorte for a big birthday celebration. I'm really looking forward to both.

Car drivers rev their engines in anticipation of the lights changing at a busy junction.

This is the junction of Bridge Street, Patrick's Quay, and Patrick's Bridge in Cork. This photo was taken from the far left of Yellow Boxes. Patrick's Hill is visible in background as you follow the road up the incline.

Bloody dangerous junction too. Very busy one.

No sign of baby yet, I guess it'll be tomorrow. Stand by your Twitter for updates!

Arnold Schönberg's Erwartung - A Performance by Robin Rhode

Robin Rhode imagines Austrian composer Arnold Schönberg's Erwartung (Expectation) in Arnold Schönberg's Erwartung - A Performance by Robin Rhode. In partnership with Performa15. Composed in 1909, Erwartung takes the unusual form of a one-act monodrama for a solo soprano, accompanied by a large orchestra. For Rhode, this atonal opera about love, loss, and lamentation, recalled the many hardships experienced by women in South Africa during and after the fall of Apartheid. Originally set in the moonlit, wilderness of the forest, Rhodeâs reproduction of Arnold Schönberg's Erwartung - A Performance by Robin Rhode interprets Times Square itself to be a contemporary forest filled with light emanating from the electronic billboards instead of the moon. The performance takes place in a huge aria with just one soprano and non-speaking performer carrying out the opera, with the sights and sounds of Times Square acting as a Greek Chorus in the background.

Melbourne was part of the global climate strike on March 15, drawing an enormous crowd estimated at 40,000 people, the vast majority school students.

After welcome to country and some speeches at the Old Treasury Building the march wound it's way through CBD streets, down Collins Street and up Bourke street, then down to Treasury Gardens. It was a highly energetic march with the roar of chanting calling for coal, don't dig it, and for climate action now.

Ava as Miss Havisham from Dickens' "Great Expectation" who is stood up by her fiancé on her wedding day and never takes off her wedding dress or puts away the wedding breakfast and cake even as she grows to be an embittered and lonely decrepit old woman.

Today, Miss Havisham poses in a lavish pink gown for a portrait that her fiancé, Mr. Compeyson, has encouraged her to have painted.

Miss Havisham (thinking): "My wonderful fiancé has said that this portrait will immortalize me as I am as we await our wedding. He says that it will forever remind us of our our youthful days of love: 'With this portrait,' he says, 'you shall be frozen in time.'"

"I must remind myself of his words as I stand here and pose. I must fight this restless feeling...I know what will help: imagining myself as I will be on our wedding day, the happiest day of my life.

"If I could wish for a day on which to be frozen in time, it would be that glorious day, the day when I will become the woman that I was born to be, forever enveloped in my exquisite feelings for the man I love..."
