Granadillo (Platymiscium Yucatanum) is found in Central and South America mostly in the pacific coast area. This exotic wood, although hard, machines nicely with both hand and power tools. It turns and finishes very well and can be brought to a beautiful, natural sheen. Granadillo can be recognized by its deep rich red, black, orange, and brown colors that blend beautifully throughout the wood giving it a look much like Bolivian and Honduran Rosewood. Granadillo also gives off a sweet, almost spicy scent when cutting that is due to the natural oils in the wood very similar to some of the rosewoods. Our customers have been using Granadillo for musical instruments, pool cues, wood turning, flooring, cabinet making, and fine furniture.
