Compiled by C.H.C.A. van Sypesteyn (1857 - 1937), a valuable art collection forms the foundation of the Castle-Museum Sypesteyn in Loosdrecht. In addition to the collection of portraits, furniture, silver and glass objects, clocks and sculptures, there is also a beautiful collection of porcelain. The Loosdrecht porcelain is particularly worth seeing.
The castle gardens
A garden with hedges, moats and decorative wrought-iron gates characterize Sypesteyn Castle. Via paths and bridges, you can walk around the maze and cross the canal and take a leisurely stroll through the orchards, the park and the castle garden. You will discover all sorts of indigenous and exotic trees during your stroll.
Tribute to Van Sypesteyn
The lord of the castle did not build it merely as a place to house his art collection. As the last descendant of the Van Sypesteyn line, he wanted to build the castle to pay tribute to his family. The stunning garden and park were built in the 17th-century style. Surrounded by the Loosdrecht lakes and the Vecht River, the area around the castle is also magnificent.

Antarctic cruise aboard Marco Polo. This shot was taken from a Zodiac during one of the excursions. Canon 10D was the first serious digital camera for the layman. This photo still looks great after nearly 2 decades against all the new kids on the block today!
The flower of the edible passionfruit, Passiflora edulis.
For me passionfruit flowers are just as exotic as orchids.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks for visiting! I am very grateful for and appreciative of the kind comments and faves which have been left.
Macro Monday - Sweet or Savoury
I seldom eat chips, but these are pretty good. It is a blend of yuca, sweet potato, parsnip, taro, and batata.
These chips are made with real vegetables, gluten-free, vegan, non-GMOr. 0mg of cholesterol and 0g of trans fat and no artificial flavors or artificial preservatives.
I know, too good to be true :)
At Westonbirt Arboretum there are lots of exotic trees - I don't know the name of this one, but I like the colours!

For the Macro Monday challenge "Leading Lines" (August 23rd 2021)
An exotic name for a fruit we rarely see in shops here - the Peruvian groundcherry. I love the texture of the outer husk of the cherry, all papery and feather-light! I've kept some dry husks for several years, and always found them difficult to shoot. This is the latest attempt, and hopefully the husks do show nature's 'leading lines' š
Posting early as it's a busy few days here!
Establishing shot in the first comment field, set against the 2x3 inch credit card I use as my size guide.
HMM!! and have a lovely week ahead!
