Long wall mural on the local primary school where my son attended for 5+ years. I spent a lot of time doing volunteer work here, eg reading, canteen, sports day, etc so have some great memories of the place. I was a bit surprised that the people in the lotus lake were grey, but nevertheless, still an exotic panorama! Over the years, my son made his way along each classroom in this wing. It was such a sunny day today, this is straight out of the camera.

Pomegranate is believed to be one of the healthiest fruits you can consume. However, my personal opinion is that it is also the messiest fruit ever! It is a very good fruit. Just very messy. For those of you who don't know what the yellow fruit is, it is a Starfruit. Notice the star shape. Both are actually grown in the United States. Pomegranate is grown in California in some places, other than that I believe it is grown somewhere in Spain. The Starfruit I have in this picture, was actually grown in Florida. It laid claim to this on the packaging it came at the store. If you are interested in trying these, you can probably get them at a local food market if you have one, or do as I did and get them at Wal-Mart.
Another one from the archives as a reminder of how nice everything was in the summer; this particular shot was from my trip to the Calgary Zoo in June of this year, on my very first weekend of owning my 60D.
Here you can see beautiful, delicate, and exotic looking Japanese Irises with a lovely pond and fountain behind them, surrounded by lovely tall grass.

Second in a series of postcard swaps with my friends from Paper Cowgirl Art Retreats--this time, with an "Orient" theme.
I chose "Most Exotic China" as my theme since my scrap boxes contain more Japanese ephemera--with each of these postcards, I'm trying to think a little bit out of the box.
I used joss papers, fortune cookie fortunes, and New Year's money envelopes, along with a vintage Chinese playing card and a vintage coin. Decorations were added with water colors, embossing inks and Tim Holtz Distress inks using a technique I saw on one of his videos.
I continued with the "Happi Travel Ltd." story, and enclosed a "token" that could bring the bearer "good fortune and health and luck". I used descriptive wording lifted, practically verbatim, from files copied from actual eBay listings for "authentic Chinese antiquities". I have a file called "Welcome to my eBay!" when I dump snippets I find!
I hope my swap partner enjoyed the card as much as I did making it!

Despite being deeply red and labeled "sparkling pomegranate", pomegranate juice is, like, the 6 or 7th ingredient on the label, after apple and grape and some other juice. It tastes much more of those other juices too. My disappointment in it, as much as the fact that it turned out dark, is why this was not my entry for "exotic flavours" in the Vandigicam Photo Odyssey.
