The completed bell housing. We started with the original Ropver manual bellhousing, from which 45mm was removed from the gearbox sidee. The 15mm piece of plate alluminium plate was cut to fit and welded. Finally, it was skimmed to ensure that both sides were exactly parallel. (161)

Offereing up the engine to the chassis for the first time. It did not look good. Our initial reaction was that the statter motor, sump and oil filter would all fall foul of the chassis. Initial idea was to cit out some of the cross member, marked with a blue felt tip line. (105)
The boot lid. Now that the shape follows the correct profile of the car, I wanted to make a recess to put a badge. This idea came about when I won an eBay auction for a team lotus badge. I thought that I liked the idea, so plan to reduce its size by 1/3, and make a recess to locate it at the bottom the boot lid. As is usual with this project, there was more to that initially thought, as we had to increase the lip, so that we had a bigger area in which to put the badge. (241)
Various components purchased from Mile Taylors Lotus Bits included the exchange steering rack (£120) reconditioned Toyota Supra differential with LSD (£250) Supra 5 speed gearbox (£200) Other parts included a propshaft, Excel engine & gearbox mounts, an old air con compressor for a pattern and a propshaft. Dashboard - work in progress. The idea is to copy the concept of the original 1974 Lotus Elite. I want to be able to see real wood, and this is one job that I can do myself!! Her, one can see the white plastic sheeting which Mick made to take the air from the heater to the air vent in the middle of the dashboard.
