This is the "before" shot: Us, a campsite, a bunch of loaded bikes.

We arrived early enough to snag a walk-in campsite. They're nicer than the RV sites -- shadier, deeper in the woods. The campground was really great, but the sound of I-84 and the Union Pacific tracks was everpresent, which we hadn't really expected! Makes sense if you look at a map, though.

This marvellous tall castle of ice dominated the bay on the south side of Jokulsarlon. It will have gone by now. Everything shifts.

When I wildcamped near the cafe, in a little hollow in the hills, I memorised the situation of all the major ice features before I went to bed. In the morning, several of them were already gone; the current had caught them and carried them out to the sea. That wouldn't happen here, where the ice is becalmed far away from powerful currents, but the tinkling and cracking of ice, and the muted splash of ice falling, or turning over as its balance is affected by melting, is an everpresent soundtrack in this otherwise silent bay.

Ah, Pokemon. Justin can't stand it, thanks to the cartoon. Me? I like the games enough.

Ancient city of the Tayronas, lost in the jungle of Colombia. Absolutely stunning setting, well worth the 3 day uphill walk in the unbearable jungle heat.

Note: About 5 years ago this area was a "red" zone run by Colombian Guerillas. Sveral tourists were kidnapped. It is now safe and controlled by the everpresent Colombian military. 15 year olds with machine guns anyone?

So this is my attempt at recreating the selfie she took at the Olds demo, which was out of focus and backlit so I didn't post it. I couldn't make her smile though, I don't think it's period....

The everpresent wind still blows at Beverly- at one time high wind indicator signals would alert trains if it was safe to cross this massive bridge without fear of losing a piggyback to the waters below. Now the bridge and wind remain- but the trains are 32 years gone.

Silver gelatin print from and image taken by Justin Lorimer and his everpresent Leica M6

In a dark corner of Maxine's bar www.maxineslive.com/ in Hot Springs, Arkansas I saw a man with a smallish tripod mounted camera tweaking settings by the light of a cell phone. He was shooting a band who opened for Johnny Cash many years ago. His intensity and the fact that he was using a lightmeter peaked my interest. I couldn't help myself from asking him the only intelligible thing which came to mind. "What ISO are you shooting at?" I asked. "1600" he said. Not wanting to bother him, but unable to restrain myself, "Could you tell me what that thing is?" I blurted. Without a word, he twisted the camera on it's mount and the iconic red emblem gleamed in the near darkness, Leica.

"Whoa, you're for real!" I exclaimed with boyish admiration. "I guess so," he humbly replied "that's my stuff on the wall," and an impressive business card was promptly in my hand. After examining his gallery showing on the wall entited "Forces" I knew I had met an extraordinary photographer.

Later on, I caught up with him and he was kind enough to talk to me about this image. He told me it was taken on a cloudy, grey, blustery day in Venice. Excitedly he explained how much he loved shooting 3200 speed film, how it allowed for such a depth of field and the capture of the breaking waves. He then went on to explain the magical feeling of developing the print in baths of enchanted liquid poured from Grolsch beer bottles and thier perfect flippy tops. At that point, I was most definitely overwhelmed.

The fact that this was a print concieved from light shown through a negative and developped with some special chemical concoction was a difficult concept for my digital brain to handle. I know that's how it began, but it's so foreign to me, so analogue, so primal. I had to have it!

How often do you get to meet the artist that brings a piece like this to life? Even better, to have a real discussion about the work, right there in front of it. It was a privilege indeed. "How many of these prints are out there?" I asked out of curiosity. With a glint of pride in his eye, "There's only one" my new friend Justin replied. It's a One of a Kind.

I found it really interesting when Genevieve mentioned that another farmer asked about renting her boar to breed with their sow. Apparently it is virtually impossible to find old fashioned pigs to make baby old fashioned pigs because most pig farmers use artificial insemination to breed in "new and improved" characteristics into their herd. Genevieve, with her everpresent optimism and openness said, "Sure! Let me research how to do that!".

I know by itself this is an incredibly boring photo. In fact, to most people the entire set of photos may be a yawner. But for those who appreciate the love and companionship of a pet, you may appreciate what I wrote about our dog, Sam ... and the reason for this set in the first place. I hope you do.

This photo is part of the set, Standing in the Light. and if you click here, you can read what I wrote. It is about Sam and it is about any of our animal companions with whom we hold a deep abiding connection.

Enormous effort went into maintaining the lawns. A vast team of gardeners mowed, trimmed and most importantly ensured twice daily watering through multiple fixed-sprinklers. The lawn felt good underfoot, but the everpresent sun seemed to be relentlessly reminding that any let up of effort would lead to a return to desert.

Natasha Corrett of honestlyhealthyfood.com gets together with the fine people of Teapigs to run a matcha masterclass in the everpresently hip and ever evolving Boxpark, Shoreditch. Asides from the masterclass itself (which was a one off event), the pop up is full of matcha Kit Kats (Japanese Import), matcha bread (brown bread infused with matcha), gluten free matcha cake, tea (obviously) and other stuff I probably forgot about. If you have a matcha fetish, go take a look.

I’m not sure how long the popup is gonna be there for, but I’m pretty sure it’s a short lived phenomenon. According to the guys at Teapigs, this is an experiment, they’ve never tried running a physical shop before.

Maximus getting ready for his karate class - a rare glimpse of him without his everpresent orange hat! I hadn't noticed at the time, but the light from the setting sun is falling on the wall behind him, contrasting nicely against his white Gi. Although this was a very spontaneous shot, I'm quietly pleased with the image. It's a record of one of those fleeting moments that mostly go unrecorded by their mundanity, that in years to come sometimes become the most cherished.

This is our favorite dish in one of our favorite restaurants in DC. A tiny place in Palisades called Kotobuki where we order this bowl of rice with eel and vegetables. It is delicious. Accompanied by everpresent Beatles soundtrack and Mongolian waitresses who speak Russian this place is where you will find us most Friday nights.
