I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I was meant to be organizing a photowalk but that was swiftly called off due to the weather, which was a little bit grim and not something that this fairweather photographer wants to be out in. Instead I pretty much just watched TV all weekend, playing a little bit of Tomb Raider and processed a couple of images.

I contemplated heading to the tube to take a few snaps down there, but laziness won over and I opted instead to simply process an image from down there – et voila.

This was taken at Liverpool St Station. I had wandered down to the Westbound Central Line to go home and there were a couple of minutes to wait for a train. Most of the access to the platform seemed to be blocked off, but the large door just behind me was ajar so I poked my head in to see if there were any decent images, and that’s when I was faced with this set of unused escalators with this nice ribbon type thing over them.

For processing, I tonemapped 3 exposures and then mostly used a selection of OnOne filters which were manually brushed in, followed by a little Tonal Contrast and Low Key additions from the Nik Color Efex plugin.

No entry for the littlest of cowgirls at this rundown establishment on the side of the highway. Sadie and I stopped here randomly for a few minutes to snap this and another Polaroid. She’s always been a cowgirl at heart!

This is my first entry for Crafter's Nostalgic Cartoon Contest. If you haven't heard of it, you should check it out. The group is tagged in the photo. Anyways, this is based off my favorite animated show ever, Gravity Falls. Totally recommend it. In the photo, there is (left to right): Blendin Blandin, Waddles, Grunkle Stan, Mabel Pines, Dipper Pines, Soos, and Lil' ol' me, I mean Lil' Gideon. (Admit it, you read Lil' ol' me in a Gideon voice). I did not make Wendy or Ford, and I showed Blendin's back because it looks better than the front. Here are the fig formulas:

Blendin: Clark Kent head, Arctic Batman torso, flesh hands, light bluish-grey legs.

Waddles: Just an official Lego pig.

Grunkle Stan: Fez, Force Awakens Han Solo head, CMF series 1 Magicians torso and legs, flesh hands, Killer Croc Tail-gator 8-Ball.

Mabel: HP Luna Lovegood head and torso, HP Hermione hair, purple short-legs.

Dipper: CMF series 10 Baseball player hat, JW Grey head, red torso, dark-blue legs, and Storm's cape-hand thingie for the vest.

Soos: Black cap, Indiana Jones head, reversed dark-green torso, CMF series 2 Adventurer legs.

Lil' Gideon: Upside down Santa Beard, LBM Robin head, City torso.

A few notes before the end:

1. Captain Crafter's Gravity Falls Figs (say that five times fast) are better, so you can (if you want) go check those out.

2. Dipper's arms are up because then Storm's cape-thingie gives the illusion of a vest.

Th-th-th-that's all folks (new minifigure idea)! Thanks for taking the time to read this, check out the contest, and have a stellar day!

Entry Hall...one of my Birds Corners :)

Decay at its best inside an abandoned Ontario institution.

This is what gets me excited about exploring abandoned buildings, the promise of natural decay as a building slowly rots away due to the elements. Seeing all the different layers of material on the walls slowly falling off as water intrudes through the roof of the building, it's a sight to be seen. In the upper right hand corner of the image you can see the last remaining layer, the brickwork, has slowly been exposed over the years. It also helps when you have great light to create the right mood for the scene.

Product of my Life Drawing classes... which have been my favorite thing this year. :-)

Shown as a tablecloth in the mockup (c/o Spoonflower).

The link for voting will be www.spoonflower.com/contest_voters_temp/new?contest_id=676 - open for one week only. Expect a wide open field: my guess is for about 1500 entries (Hhmm, I was wrong: there are 1116 entries in this contest as we speak & that should reduce somewhat).
