On Thursday 2nd October 2014 Hartlepool College of Further Education hosted its annual Awards held by its School of Engineering. The event gave College staff, partners, employers and the family and friends of students a chance to honour the very finest levels of achievement in this diverse and dynamic area.

Major engineering work at Armley junction west of Leeds in conjunction with Platform 0 construction over the Bank Holiday weekend resulted in special workings. Colas Railfreight's 70809 brings ballast in box wagons and side discharge wagon and two Kirow cranes. The working had started at Doncaster and travelled to York, and Harrogate before arriving at Horsforth.

The first bridge was built by Leonel Viera in 1965 is one of the signature engineering works of Uruguay. In 2000 a clone bridge was built on its side to take care of the increased traffic during the summer season.

Students in Andy Corwin's Introduction to Engineering classes have applied the basic principles of mechanical engineering to trusses they have designed and built.
