Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Petersburg-based 276th Engineer Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group conduct a Plus One Day with their loved ones July 19, 2024, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia, during the unit’s annual training. During the event, Soldiers’ family members and significant others fired simulated weapons at the Engagement Skills Trainer, conducted a live-fire range with the M240B machine gun and observed demolitions operations. Soldiers assigned to the Virginia Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion were on hand with information about the Referral Enlistment Program. This man was interesting. He is the engineer of the little train. He told me about coming to American when he was 34 years old, he's now 77 years old. The photo he is holding is of him when he first came to American. He was very patient and informative. He spoke to Sean in several different languages and asked Sean if he would like to drive the train. He let Sean drive the track about 4 times. I didn't get his name but we will be back and see him again soon.

Sitting here laughing (and getting paid for it) is Jay the engineer. Twenty-two years of hard labor-seated: his investment. Laughing all the way to the bank is bitter sweet for him. Next time you see bnsf, think of this guy. My son wants to join the railroad. Better have some good pants.
The Los Angeles District marked anniversary 237 of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during their annual event June 29.
Under the commander’s motto “Taking Care of People,” the District converged on the Santa Fe Dam Recreation Area in Irwindale, Calif.
Engineer Day was the perfect venue to recognize teammates for their decades of service and accomplishments. This year, 78 District employees met the criteria of 10-to 45-years of service. In all, 28 employees were available to receive their award at the event.

A small contingent of Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to Fredericksburg-based 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team recondition a range road, Aug 4, 2017, at Fort A.P. Hill as part of an environmental project to preserve local wetlands and combat erosion. The engineers used a variety of heavy machines to relocate more than 500 tons of gravel, removed and reused more than 250 tons of dirt, during their two-week annual training. Engineer Soldiers from various Army Reserve and active duty units plunge into the Arkansas River during a training exercise known as a helocast at Fort Chaffee, Ark., Aug. 1, as part of Operation River Assault.
