The embroidered fabric used to make this little shoulder bag comes from the Otomi community of Tenango de Doria in the state of Hidalgo Mexico. I purchased the bag in Oaxaca. A lot of Tenango embroideries are sold in Oaxaca markets, leading people to believe incorrectly that the textiles were made in that state

framed antique embroidered virgen del pilar.

I love how you can take a design and adapt it to your own ideas. My take on it was a bit more spring like as I added the buds on the branch and some curly ques on the leaves.

This was by far my favorite toy that I made for my daughter. She loved it when she was a baby. It's fleece with some cotton fabric applique and embroidery. It has different colored embroidery patterns on the other side.
