This Momma elephant is satisfying an itch. Rub, rub, rub and this tree!!! Baby is trying to get the hang of it on the other side.
These rock formations give the image of a group of elephants lining up side by side. Found in Elephant Cove, Denmark WA.
I wonder if there will come a time when Tang Mo will push Tukta away at mealtime. For now, she's become a real expert at shifting her food around with her trunk so she doesnt lose it.
That's Luk in the background. At first, when he was given food in a separate spot, he was inclined to leave it and go join an adult, usually Tang Mo. At some stage, he learnt to take his food with him. And now he appears to be quite happy to eat alone some of the time. Though it's still not uncommon for him to go and join Tang Mo or his mother, perhaps the others, during the meal.
These elephants were feeding on young trees & shrubs, flattening the thorns with their feet and then devouring branches whole.
I broke some rules here and centered the eye.
I think it gives the image a more piercing focus on the eye without losing the context that a tighter shot on the eye would have.
I believe this elephant is Samudra. This image was taken on a cold December day and all of the other elephants were indoors. Samudra was outside pacing. Samudra is the son of Tusko. Tusko was euthanized just 6 days before this was taken.
