Educators are invited to the Legoengineering Educators Conference on The 4th Floor of the Downtown Chattanooga Public Library on Saturday, June 7 2014 from 8:30am until 4:00pm.
42 educators attended from throughout the Hamilton County Education system.
LEGOengineering is developed by the Tufts Center for Engineering Education and Outreach (CEEO), with the support of LEGO Education and innovative teachers from around the globe, including the Engineering Design Group Educators (EDGE).
The mission of LEGOengineering is to inspire and support teachers in bringing LEGO-based engineering to all students.
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be out of control in Iowa, schools in Des Moines remain online for the time being. I visited Madison and Monroe elementary schools as teachers use their student-less classrooms as the setting for their online lessons.

I spent Monday at DreamWorks' Glendale campus as a part of their Educators' Symposium. It was fun to be back on campus - this time as an invited teacher, which made it rather unique. Alex McDowell gave an in depth talk about design for live action and animated features in the digital age, including examples from his work on Minority Report, The Terminal, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Bee Movie. He also gave us a sneak peak at the special trailer of Watchmen that was only screened at Comic-Con. Though I'm very familiar with all the ways that digital design is being used in production, Alex has a unique and informative view on how it fits into the big picture, including an interesting workflow chart (that makes more sense when he walks you through it).
They also screened a sequence from Madagascar II and a 3D sequence from Monsters Vs. Aliens. Since these aren't due out for a bit, I won't say anything other than they look fantastic and we laughed out loud all the way through both of them. I can't wait for the final films!
We were also treated to a composite reel of student work from 24 schools that submitted pieces. It's exciting to see the level of talent that is just coming of age now, and the breadth and variety of work that they're doing.

The program included inspirational words from 2013 DODEA Teacher of the Year, Daniele Massey, and Alum of the USM teacher education M.A.Ed. programs, Patti Ingraham.

A steady stream of more than 500 applicants flowed through the Community Choice Convention Center, from 8 to noon Saturday morning for the the annual Educator Career Fair. Interviews for high demand positions took place throughout the event, and more than 100 educators will be hired for the 2017-18 school year.
Every year, the College of Education hosts a back-to-school thank-you reception for Pullman-area educators, in particular the Pullman School District, with whom the college has had a special relationship for a number of years. This year's event took place at South Fork on August 22.

Zespół Szkół nr 106 w Warszawie jest niezwykle interesującym przypadkiem projektowania obiektów edukacyjnych. Z jednej strony wyróżnia się nowoczesnym i nieszablonowym projektem, strukturą budynku, elegancko zaprojektowanym otoczeniem z boiskami, a z drugiej dziesiątkami błędów popełnionych przez projektanta wewnątrz i na zewnątrz budynku, obniżających funkcjonalność tej szkoły. Projekt ten jest dowodem na to, że brak komunikacji, współpracy i zaangażowania przyszłych użytkowników szkoły na etapie projektowania prowadzi do powstania błędnych rozwiązań, których potem nie da się już usunąć bez poważnej inwestycji lub wręcz skutkuje znacznym wzrostem kosztów utrzymania budynku (np. odśnieżanie dachów, usuwanie zbierającej się wody, montaż klimatyzatorów, bez których nie da się funkcjonować w pomieszczeniach typu "szklarnia" itp.).
Większość sal lekcyjnych posiada całkowicie przeszkolne ściany zewnętrzne. W dni słoneczne powoduje to efekt szklarni, w dni chłodne natomiast skutkuje koniecznością dogrzewania sal lekcyjnych. Dodatkowo architekt zaprojektował dla każdej klasy zbyt małe okna uchylne, których nie da się w całości otworzyć - wewnątrz klasy blokują je... filary nośne. Rezultat - uczniowie naprawdę czują się jak w szklarni. Sal nie da się skutecznie wywietrzyć. To jeden z największych błędów architekta.

Secondary School No. 105 in Warsaw (Poland). An interesting case of a building where sometimes the vision of an architect does not meet needs and functionalities of a school. Although the building is new and very modern, inside you will find a lot of mistakes that actually make life of teachers and students harder and more challenging. The design process of a school must always go along with deep consultancy of experienced educators.

Womensphere 2016 Summit on Creating the Future: Full Steam Ahead

Womensphere’s Annual Fall Summit brought together over 200 diverse leaders and emerging leaders across sectors, including executives, professionals, entrepreneurs, educators, scientists, artists, student leaders, and leaders from civil society. Convened on the day before the 2016 US national elections, we were thrilled to be able to come together in celebration and strength, to share, discuss, ideate, and collaborate on creating the future to accelerate the advancement of women in all fields.
We were excited to honor Morgan Stanley Vice Chairman Carla Harris with the Womensphere Global Leadership Award for her powerful and creative vision, her longstanding commitment to empowering women and youth of color, and more than a dozen other great reasons. We were happy to bring together ground-breaking innovators, executives, educators, artists, and leaders creating change for women around the world – to launch some very important initiatives.
