Series made using fundamental, natural elements.
Natural elements and compounds are collected at the site of the picture - usually at the location depicted within the photograph. The depicted scenes you see here are created not just by light on film but by collecting samples of naturally occurring water, mineral elements and organic matter from the scene and chemically bonding to the film over several months, the resulting images created from the scene pictured, itself.
Echoing ancient alchemical methodologies, the process of production of the images and their resulting mystical appearance together reflect the ups and downs of the search undertaken by an artist to understand his and more widely, humankind's own, spiritual nature.
No collating or cutting and pasting of external or internal elements into the picture in Photoshop or similar editor has taken place.
This series also includes preparatory studies and thematically associated sketches that feed into the series, including chemical painting studies on copper coated paper.

One of my immediate thoughts for this first redress of Darius (I refuse to call him Gus, he should never have had his name stolen) was to create a tribute to Edward Enninful, Ghanaian-British Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue. I was completely charmed by him when I heard him interviewed on Radio 4's Desert Island Discs. Edward started out as a model before becoming fashion director for the magazine i-D - he was the youngest ever fashion director for an international publication at the age of 18. He is a huge promoter and supporter of diversity both in his editorial team and between the pages of the magazine.
Unfortunately I only had an edition of Spanish Vogue to use for this photoshoot 😅 Maybe Edward is going to take it over?

Editors @ the Casbah last night. Amazing band live. Super cool guys.
This was my first time using the Rebel at a show! So, I took waaaay too many photos. You know I used that dinky cybershot and well, wow... no flash on these ones and they're so clear (well, compared to the usual ones I take at the Casbah). And all of the Editors shots were taken with my very drunk hands.
Anyway, I have more photos to put up of the rest of the band and also Peter Hook!

Editors are a British alternative rock band based in Birmingham, who formed in 2002. Previously known as Pilot, The Pride and Snowfield, the band currently consists of Tom Smith (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Russell Leetch (bass guitar, synthesizer, backing vocals), Ed Lay (drums, percussion, backing vocals), Justin Lockey (Lead guitar), and Elliott Williams (Keys, synthesizers, guitars, and backing vocals) .
Editors have so far released two platinum studio albums, and three in total, whilst selling over several million copies between them worldwide. Their debut album The Back Room was released in 2005. It contained the hits "Munich" and "Blood" and the following year received a Mercury Prize nomination.
Their follow-up album An End Has a Start went to number 1 in the UK Album Chart in June 2007 and earned the band a Brit Awards nomination for best British Band. It also spawned another Top 10 hit single, "Smokers Outside the Hospital Doors". The band's third album, In This Light and on This Evening, was released in October 2009 and went straight to number 1 in the UK Album Chart. The band is currently in studio working on their fourth studio album.
Alongside their critical acclaim and strong success in the charts, Editors have consistently enjoyed sold out tours and numerous headlining festival slots. Their brand of dark indie rock is commonly compared to the sound of bands such as Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, Interpol, The Chameleons and U2.
