Amtrak KN702 shoves west through Edison on track 3 with a lengthy maintenance of way consist including this former Penn Central N-11 caboose, AMTK 14035

There was a bit of work on a Saturday morning for this Raritan Central crew. After returning from Conrail's Metuchen Yard with interchange traffic and spotting a loaded car at a customer siding, it seems the morning's work is nearly complete. A pair of leased former Southern Pacific SW1500s shoves their short train into the yard and the crew will soon park their power.

As an empty UPS semi waits on its way to pick up more packages to bring to the distribution and sorting facility, Raritan Central Railway RC-2 uses a pair of EMD “Pups” to switch out the Home Depot Distribution Center. This was one of my first tries on a shot where I focus more on composition and framing than a train itself. Opinions would be appreciated.

Not quite a race, but...an NJ Transit MMC extra to Morrisville Yard easily overtakes Amtrak work extra KN702 east of Edison Station. Both trains are heading west, with KN702 about to cross over to track 1 at County interlocking so they can clear up at Adams Yard.

The RC-2 crew has returned from interchanging cars at Conrail's Metuchen Yard on a frigid afternoon. With the train now put away in Raritan Central's yard, the power is cut away and moved to the engine service area. RCRY 701 was built as Union Pacific GP20 727 and was eventually de-turbocharged. It later worked for the Columbia & Cowlitz before coming to the RCRY via Larry's Truck & Electric.
