Edge Hill station built in 1836. There have been two stations on this site, the original one in Edge Hill cutting and the present passenger station.
Personly im of the opinion Edge Hill cutting is one of the most interesting and historical places in Liverpool and why more isnt made of it....especially with the capital of culture on the horizon, i dont know?

In order to pour the epoxy into the channel and not have it all flow out of the edges, we had to build silicone molds of the edge of the granite that we could then slide over and secure in place when we did the pour.
We used formica, wood (a strip of split lattice), and a glue gun to prepare the forms.

The Wavertree Road railway overbridge. At this point the bridge consists of numerous spans taking Wavertree Road over not only the West Coast Main Line and the Chat Moss/Wigan lines, here running side by side, but also the numerous chords and sidings related to the Waterloo and Wapping Tunnels and both Edge Hill & Spekelands Road Goods Stations/Depots.
The array of sidings was built from 1892 onwards. Although the piers visible here are of masonry, the spans crossing the main lines rest on round concrete columns, just discernible in the span seen above the blue and grey wagons. I find myself intrigued by the sections of bridge that are concrete spans. Are they original, if not, what form did the first bridge take and how did the extension, crossing the sidings, relate to it? And just how early in the history of civil engineering did these concrete spans appear? This is a screengrab of a freeze-frame from the official DVD of a train cab ride from Lime Street to Wigan and back. This frame is from the return journey, travelling towards Edge Hill.

Second day of trip to South Carolina started with this awesome pier at Folly beach situated 10 mi from Charleston. With best surfing spots, nice restaurants and picturesque locations, Folly beach is definitely a great city to visit.
The pier is a breathtaking landmark that stretches 1,045 feet into the sparkling waters of the Atlantic Ocean. At 25-feet wide and 23-feet above sea level, the pier is the 2nd longest on the east coast and offers not only spectacular views, but a variety of fishing tournaments, special events, and dining.
Back after some technical (human) difficulties so I'm only just posting this now from the start of August.

I got back from my week long photography-camping trip today and promised myself I wouldn't touch the photographs for a few days before doing any kind of editing.
Well, clearly that didn't stick, did it? I tried my best, really I did! For all of two hours?
My first shot of the trip was taken in an absolute scramble. Just an hour previously I'd finished set up camp at North Lees, I legged it up Stanage Edge with my boil in a bag tucked into my jacket. I missed the intense orange sidelight from golden hour, but this was more than made up for by the post sunset blush. Scouting a location pays dividends, I shot this composition in June and knew exactly where I wanted to head, which greatly aided my time sensitive shoot.
I'll post more photos from the week along with the stories behind them, I've a lot to work through; eighteen separate shoots in total with two or three compositions each...lots to do.
