I had to go see it. It was my first time on World's Edge and the view is amazing. I just hate to see the fire's destruction. Praying all stay safe who are fighting the blaze as well as those who's homes are nearby.

"As of 5 p.m. today, the fire had encompassed 550 acres, and could triple in size as fire crews extend fire lines to navigate the rugged mountain terrain. Three bulldozers and about 75 firefighters were working the scene this afternoon, David Brown, fire information officer for the State Fire Service, said from his cell phone at the intersection of Coopers Gap Road and Burgess Road near the Sunny View community, where plumes of smoke were clearly visible. Little is known about the history of the Cracken Edge quarries. What is clear is that they were closed by the later nineteenth century and that they had an inclined plane to take the product down to the road. The drumhouse for the incline still has substantial remains, including some of the drum itself.

Taken on a fine summer's evening, the background shows the railway viaducts at the triangular junction at Chapel Milton, and also the Chapel-en-le-Frith bypass.

Considered as two of the top league contenders, the Southern Dolphins and St. John’s Knights, faced off in a hard fought battle Monday afternoon. In a relentless, back-and-forth game, the Dolphins proved to be the better team this match, winning 2-1.

Despite the fact the Knights goalie Ryota Nault had nearly 10 saves, the Dolphins kept attacking. In the 35th minute, Austin Cruz capitalized off a chest deflection off of defender Reed Meyer, knocking it in from short distance for a 1-0 Southern lead. A sluggish first half by both teams ended with the Dolphins lone goal.

The second half was more effective for the Dolphins as they upped their tempo and left everything out on the field. In the 48th minute, a strategic cross pass from Keith Surber connected with Adam Rivera in the far post, finishing with a header into goalie Nault’s blind side, giving Southern a 2-0 lead.

The Knights were down, but not out and made a last-minute run. A shot on goal in the 72nd minute by Gen Fudo got them one goal closer. Time was against the Knights and their surge wasn’t enough to be victorious. St. John’s have now lost two straight after starting the season unbeaten. They fall to 5-2-1. “We couldn’t play the right position and the pressure got on us. Southern really broke us down mentally and physically. Every little pass, every little trap, every little shot, seemed harder than usual and I think that’s why we lost,” stated Knights head coach Jimmy Okuhama. “We have a lot to learn before the playoffs.”

Dolphins head coach, Joe Cruz commented on how his team played, “The kids really wanted it, that’s the bottom line. At the end of the day, we are known for having a strong heart and we played to the end.” Southern remains unbeaten and improved to 8-0-0.
