Edge Vanessa, I think she's one of those beauty queens that trying hard to be a top model! LoL
She's fierce and very sexy, but she has some soft angles too.
Or edge of light, depending on how you want to think about it. A soft sunset on the edge of a large thunderstorm.
Happy Fenced Friday! Seen on a recent winter hike to the summit of Prairie View Mountain where there is a fire lookout. The purpose of this fence is not to stop people from falling off the precipice, but rather to stop them from throwing rocks, as there would be birds nesting below in the spring...
One of my great contacts has mentioned about being edgy lately. I thought about it, and concluded that it might not be a bad thing.
There are several meanings of the word “Edge”, but I found “a slight competitive advantage” and “the outside limit of an object or surface” to be most constructive.
We all have our strength and flaws, but as long as you keep improving your weakness, you will develop greater strength over time. That’s the “Edge” in you that make you stand out among the rest, and no one can take away.
Have you thought about your edge lately????

The Edge at Federation Square is a multi purpose event and entertainment space with great acoustics and walls of glass. Recently, it was the site of the unofficial referendum for the secession of Khalistan from India.
This image was created from three bracketed images taken with my sadly malfunctioning Panasonic LX7, and merged using the Enfuse plugin for Lightroom. There is extra clarity and dynamic range in this process, although it is a little cumbersome to do on the go.

If you are looking for your first great trip out of the country, I would go to Peru. It is just a fantastic place that is very safe. This is an image I took on a 3 day hike into Machu Picchu. You can see the old Inca roads we hiked on our journey. Hiking in the Andes is quite magical. Along the trail you come across all kinds of Inca ruins. As your imagination wonders you are amazed at the skill of these incredible builders and cannot fathom how they survived so long in the Andes Mountains. It is too bad the Spanish (sorry to my Spanish friends) had to come in and screw it all up. I had to really watch myself many times along the trail. Looking into the view finder of the camera and walking at the same time is never a good idea when you are standing just feet away from a 500-1000 foot drop off. It got really scary when the fog rolled in and you could only see a little ways in front of you. It was a challenging hike, but it was all worth it when you wake up on the 4th day, hike up to the Sun Gate and watch the sun rise over Machu Picchu.
I am excited to say that I am heading to Cambodia in April. I will be spending most of my time in Phnom Phen and Angkor Wat. I will be spending a few days photographing the children who spend their days looking for food in a large trash dump outside of the city. I am sure it will be heart wrenching! Don't worry; I will also take some time to photograph many of the beautiful Buddhist sites throughout the country.
Setup shot from the other night on my cave adventure with Andrew W. With hindsight I think I prefer this over the shot I posted for the 365.
Smoke and gelled torch from behind Andrew for the silhouette and then back behind the camera to light the entrance.
Curbar Edge, Derbyshire.
Note the abandoned, half made millstone to the right. Almost all British coarse millstones (for grinding animal feed) came from this area and many can still be seen on the hillsides where they were cut from the solid rock.
I been to the edge, an' there I stood an' looked down
You know I lost a lot of friends there baby,
I got no time to mess around...

I shot a few Smith Lake shots and other details. I liked the tones found in the bold, saturated reflections of the pond here on this detail shot. Autumn here in the high country was encountering it's year-end struggle at Smith Lake. We mounted yet another foray into the high country on that day past. The entire pond could be waded (watch for suckage) but the reflection tends to toll fall's done near the Great Divide. Here is just where Sasquatch prefers to surrender to his daily lavings when any day is like this, mellow and salubrious. Phil and I spotted his latent ripples and were sniffing the perfume and surrendering to this copse of pond, pine and aspen, avoiding the Sasquatch perfume, from the camp at the fire ring, up the trail to Smith Lake on the Taylor Mountain Road where we squeezed off the rough road to park. The one thing we didn't encounter was Sasquatch himself. Cripes, the Phil won't shut his yap! We had traveled the Peak to Peak Highway north toward Allenspark and turned right onto Taylor Mountain Road. Here, east of Allenspark and west of Taylor Road, we found semi-flat rocks for perches by the oft-used fire ring. You may want to camp here but beware of the Sasquatch family. It's wise to bring a large supply of M&Ms for them should you want to garner them as friends. Heck, they could carry you back to your car should you twist your ankle. The wagon road through the autumn aspen, over here is nearly apparent but yet requires a degree of imagination.
In the old days, a lot of timber was cleared for housing, fences and fuel but we could not confirm much had been removed around here even though there was the trace road over here. There would have been a lot more timber in a lot more accessible areas close to housing. You should be able to see a trace of road west from Taylor Road on Google maps. Taylor Road is an access to wonderful high country treks to more magnificent higher country views. We are paralleling the Rocky Mountain National Park off to the west. Atop Taylor, one should be able to spot climbers in colorful jackets on their final leg up the south pitch of Long Peak. Sometimes climbers founder on the big notch between Meeker and Longs. I was up Longs Peak but didn't forget anything I have to go retrieve. Whew!

Rocks were scattered around the spot and probably propped up the Smith lake terrain. Great views abound everywhere along the trek and especially from the camp fire ring, the spot of my accidental pano. Sometimes climbers founder on the big notch between Meeker and Longs and on the ledge traverse around the back of Longs. A fellow recently slipped on ice and met his master there in the last week. That particular master skipped a full level of logic.

Last night's sunset on Kinder Scout's Northern edge (Suitably called 'The Edge'). I'd ignored the Edge for most of the golden hour as it meant shooting into the sun and the light was too harsh due to clear skies. After I'd finished at Fairbrook Naze I dashed here to take one shot as the sun dropped into cloud and reduces the contrast.
Stanage Edge early this morning at sunrise.
