Myiarchus cephalotes
(Pale-edged flycatcher / Atrapamoscas montañero)
Distributed throughout subtropical montane forest in the Andes and northern Venezuela, the Pale-edged Flycatcher is a fairly typical member of the genus Myiarchus.
This species is typically a bird of humid forests and is one of the few species of Myiarchus that is restricted entirely to humid montane forest.

Looking at the weather in Sheffield and previous conditions this week I wasn't expecting much yesterday. But I fancied a walk and took my little m3 with me. But when I pulled up on the Snake Pass, the light was really clean. I was treated to some lovely early light and beautiful conditions around sunset.
It was the edges that drew my attention to this scene. The light was setting over a distant mountain and touching the edge of the trees. After a number of shots and various compositions, it was the dark log on the bottom right that anchored it just right.
Found several leaves fringed with ice crystals mid October, at the Reader Rock Garden. I thought the leaf patterns were unusual, too.
This is the color version of the flower photo I shot for Macro Monday's flowers that needed to be changed to black and white. This hibiscus is so beautiful, it's a shame not to see the exquisite colors.

A couple of links on a newly sharpened Oregon chain for my Stihl Chainsaw.
It is in this state, slightly tangled & not on the machine, that these are most likely to take the skin off a couple of fingers

July Creek, Olympic National Park, Washington
Peering through the edge of the rainforest, we catch a glimpse of Lake Quinault. The cleanly cut stump indicates that this area was logged at one point before it was brought into the Olympic National Park.

Another clear sky sunrise. But I thought, if I miss this one, I'd miss the valley filled with mist, especially after yesterday's rain.
This was one of the last shots of the morning. A composition I've never noticed before.
The midges were awful.
