The scene was illuminated by a steady LED light positioned at 10-o'clock and by a single Nikon SB900 speedlight positioned at 3-o'clock (for fill). The LED was exposed for 1/5 s. The speedlight was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄32 power through a Neewer 24" x 24" soft box.
The SB900 was triggered by two PocketWizard Plus X flash triggers.
Lens: Helios 44M-4 f2.8/58mm with a 12mm extension tube attached.

Water, rocks, dirt, and plants are earthy things but reflections are other-worldly. Like dreams they have no real substance but they exist none-the-less. To me believing is seeing.

Most sparrows are ground feeders and the White-throated Sparrow is no exception. They can be found in brambles and overgrowth, and are many times heard without being seen. I infrequently get an opportunity to photograph them, as they seem to flee quickly once spotted. The brown background in this image compliments the sparrows coloration, and the colorful head really sticks out. An earthy tone for an earthy bird. Best viewed Large (L).
