A healthy one. Oddly there were far fewer than the last few years and yet the very rare Powdercap Strangle appeared for the first time. The Parasite grows up through the stem and puts out a purple mushroom cap. It is much smaller than the host .

Cystoderma amianthinum, commonly called The Saffron Parasol, The Saffron Powder-cap, or Earthy Powder-cap, is a small orange-ochre, or yellowish-brown, gilled fungus. It grows in damp mossy grassland; in coniferous forest clearings, or on wooded heaths. It is probably the most common of the small Cystoderma species. Possibly edible, it is not recommended due to its unpleasant odour and resemblance to poisonous species.
Alle Pilz-Fotos (insgesamt 18 Stück) wurden im September 2009 auf 2 Waldspaziergängen an 2 hintereinanderliegenden Tagen im Deisenhofner Forst - süd-östlich von München - aufgenommen. Fast alle Fotos zeigen unterschiedliche Pilze. Die meisten Pilze sind giftig oder ungenießbar. Mit der Pilzbestimmung bin ich mir nicht in allen Fällen sicher, deshalb würde ich mich freuen, wenn ich Feedback bzw. Berichtigungen zur Bestimmung bekäme.
PS: Wenn das kein Pilz-Jahr ist!!

The Zion National Park has a beautiful trail starting just when you exit the tunnel on Hwy 9. I found this earthy scene on the Canyon Overlook Trail. I turned the green saturation all the way down on this paintery HDR image in order to draw the eye to the fallen wood.

Some earthy street performers..the bald chap was gently tapping this weird ball thing on his lap which a chiming type noise and the girl behind him twirled these rainbow coloured streamer things..my vignetting effect actually obscured the one twirly thing..debating going back to post prod to try bring it back in..i'll see how the feedback goes..
I tried some really new processing here. Steps, that i didn't use before and i like these earthy colors :)

Clearing skies this morning exposing pristine blue, thin clouds and earthy colors along the river. Our landscape has changed so much in just two weeks . . .
It's the transition towards the white season, strong northwest winds and ice. But I do enjoy this temporary period so much!

Morning sunlight filters softly through the trees as I sit quietly, surrounded by the gentle rustle of leaves and the distant songs of birds greeting the day. The fresh, earthy scent of dew-kissed grass and blooming wildflowers fills the air, inviting a deep breath of calm. In this bird sanctuary, time seems to pause, offering a serene moment of connection with nature’s quiet beauty.

.......naturally Montana is slow to emits signs of spring, finally the grass is greening, the trees starting to bud and the Tulips and Daffodils are blooming! So a little spring cleaning was in order last week. Something I wanted to share last fall but was unsuccessful at executing anything acceptable.I had to give it one more shot before removing it . Hope you enjoy this as much a me :)

This survived several days of below freezing temperatures. I took a pic of the same fungus a week before and left the cap there.
The moss is Springy Lawn Moss and it makes this a lovely bouncy bit of grass to walk on.

This nice butterfly with the distinct black eye spots is a male meadow brown (Maniola jurtina). It's fairly common, but with its more inconspicuous colour scheme, you don't notice it as often as the more brightly coloured species.

The scene was illuminated by a steady LED light positioned at 10-o'clock and by a single Nikon SB900 speedlight positioned at 3-o'clock (for fill). The LED was exposed for 1/5 s. The speedlight was fired in Manual mode @ 1⁄32 power through a Neewer 24" x 24" soft box.
The SB900 was triggered by two PocketWizard Plus X flash triggers.
Lens: Helios 44M-4 f2.8/58mm with a 12mm extension tube attached.
