Last Sunday I was lucky enough to have some time for photography. I decided to head back into Epping Forest to see if I still had my tree mojo. Here are three images I made while standing in the rain.
A wetland area, currently just slightly swampy but will turn into a group of small ponds over the winter.
There's a good crop of holly berries this year.
Been experimenting with landscapes in photoshop. I took all these photographs in the last few weeks in Epping Forest.

The Northern Railway Line in Sydney (Strathfield to Hornsby) opened in 1886 and was electrified in 1926.
Epping is located 18 kilometres north-west of the Sydney central business district and harbour. @sydney
This is the river Ching in Epping Forest - it's normally a trickle at the bottom of a ditch but yesterday it burst its banks. Today it has quietened down.
Now look here mate they have mixed up the rosters so you are going to Epping and I am going to Ongar so we will have to change the destination blinds!
My first trip to Epping Forest and I was blessed with almost perfect colour and conditions - happiest four hours with a camera I've had for a long time.
Lovely to see quite a few Large Skippers, and also some Small or Essex Skippers flitting around in sunny spots in Epping Forest. This Large Skipper was very chilled sitting in the sun on the bracken!

Now a preserved railway, but in June 1981 it was the most surprising part of the London Underground. This is North Weald station. By then the passing loop had been removed - hence the abandoned platform and signal box. This of course meant only a one train shuttle service, which might have been peak hours only by this stage.
Epping Forest was founded in 1811. Once famous as part of the convict trail the lovely old town is small part of a larger rural community. The epping church was presbyterian but was sold to private owners. Enjoy this small series of shots from around the area.
D25193. A misty, moisty morning in Epping Forest.
Over the Christmas weekend our daughter introduced us to Epping Forest in Essex, somewhere that was new to us.
Despite the miserable weather I took some cameras along...

Poor light today but this turned out ok.
I also spent a few hours trying to undo what the so called guardians of the forest have done :^(

A lovely late summer / early autumn evening in Epping Forest. The light looked amazing through the trees.

Epping Forest is a 2,400-hectare area of ancient woodland, and other established habitats, between Epping in Essex to the north, and Forest Gate in Greater London to the south, straddling the border between London and Essex. It is a former royal forest, and is owned and managed by the City of London Corporation.
The forest always looks good in autumn/fall and this year is no exception. Just beginning to fade and we could use some mist before that happens.
