The Macro Mondays theme for this week on 11/27 is “National” and this is a very strong contender for posting to the group pool. Fell in love with the NL while visiting when my DD lived there. This little ceramic windmill is less than two inches tall and It is being reflected in a stroopwaffels tin….. Btb, the tiny windmill has been photographed at a tiny Dutch angle…. giggling

Captured after dark for Crazy Tuesday theme: glow.

Candid street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Now with cities around the world on lock down, the store window mannequins become the sentinels over-watching the streets outside. The uncomfortable angle is deliberate for this very reason. Enjoy!

For Macro Mondays theme 'Dutch Angle'.

Trying out this technique for the first time proved trickier than I had anticipated - the feather was set up so the end portion was more or less horizontal in order to place the water droplet, so when the camera was tilted the water droplet would look to be in an impossible position. This took numerous attempts as the droplet kept rolling off or falling through the tiny delicate feather - highly frustrating as the feather was curved in its cross-section. But eventually I finally got a water droplet to balance in such a way that I got a pleasing refraction effect inside the droplet. This was shot as a focus stack of 24 images.

No feathers were harmed in the making of this photograph, but my neck got very sore...

Street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. I just love the last sliver of daylight that makes its way through to the columns outside of the Gallery of Modern Art. There is another hour or two of daylight to go but in the city, buildings obscure that so quickly. Enjoy!

Green push-pin on the desk :)

This aquatic species is famous for swimming at a tilt in a vain attempt to attract attention. It also sometimes impersonates the handle on a saucepan lid reflected in the shiny metal.

I made a limited range focus stack to keep the saucepan lid edges atmospherically blurred. For Macro Mondays "Dutch Angle". FOV about 2.5-inch.

The theme for "Looking Close on Friday" for the 16th of August is "(drinking) glass in Dutch angle". The day I took this photograph, the sun was streaming through my kitchen window, which made it perfect to catch the elegant lines of one of my crystal champagne flutes. I needed something to brighten the shot up, so I added some delicious Polish rosehip liquor to a small amount of sparking water in the glass to create this wonderful red coloured beverage. Cin cin darling! I hope that you like my choice for the theme, and that it makes you smile!

This theme has taken me ages to do - I have tried so many different objects to photograph and nothing has worked very well. This is my last attempt and I have tried to show that it has actually been taken at an angle with the crease in the paper! HMMN!

Saturday Self Challenge: Reflections

Having moved from the inland to the coast during the week gave an opportunity for a new look at reflections. Although I had previously prepared a reflection of cliffs along a creek, I awoke to a glorious morning on the beach. Feeling newly inspired, I ventured out with a mirror and camera and played around with some sea-side reflections and had fun experimenting with some reflections.

Quite a while since I had to tie one of these

Previously unpublished shot from June 2019 and a playful twist on one of the steep hills in Glasgow.

I'm facing a bit of an uphill battle with my fractured foot at the moment. It took nearly 4 weeks for the swelling to go down enough for me to wear a normal shoe. I wore my soft but supportive walking boots once, for an hour, and I have been in increasing pain ever since. The fracture site is painful to touch and frequently hurts when I weight bear. I am now 6 weeks after the injury and would have expected to be mostly pain free by now based on previous experience with fractures. I am still using one of my crutches just to walk up and down stairs. That can't be right, surely? Think I should get in touch with my doctor. On the good news side, the garden is getting plenty of sustained rain this week which is much needed. My lettuce crops are grateful for the cooler weather. Stay safe everyone.
